Vegans wouldn’t do so well in a wilderness survival situation. They wouldn’t be able to take in enough calories to make up for what they’d have to expend gathering enough food to eat.
@Keith Mowz
Maybe, but that’s typically the excuse a lot of vegans and SJWs use. That we ‘used to need to do that’ but that we ‘shouldn’t have to anymore’. But this, again, is just ignoring or dismissing the facts presented. As the article linked to by EyeGuy states, moving to a diet that’s mostly devoid of meat (specifically animal fats) has become detrimental to human health, and as a result our bodies are having to abandon the benefits of a meat-heavy diet in order to cope.
@EyeGuy
Probably deny that it’s true or attempt to claim that it’s lies propagated by the ‘other side’. That’s pretty standard practice for hardcore vegans and SJWs to dismiss all facts that don’t support their narrative.
@atalarikt
Yes, I understand very well that she’s a teen and teens tend to say crazy things. Notice how I’m not freaking out and going “Oh no! Sweetie Belle is turning into a social justice monster!”
@EyeGuy
Dude, she’s on her puberty. As a guy on puberty myself, I understand that pretty well. A few years ago, I used to rant about how evil some big companies and products are for “supporting Zionism” (which is later not entirely true to a bigger extent).
@EyeGuy
I used to make similar kind of rants on how EVIEL petro companies and petro consumption is back in my highschool years. Yeah, I was one of those far left “progressive-y” nuts.
@BarryFromMars
It depends on what you are growing/raising in terms of plants or animals. I used to raise chickens, turkeys, and rabbits. While we did buy feed for the, especially in the winter, a lot of what we fed them were either scraps or grass clippings. It’s the same in a lot of farming. Often the primary fodder for the animals you raise is a byproduct of farming crops. The straw they feed and use as bedding for cattle is actually the stalks of different grain plants. Hay is simply dried grass that’s grown when a farmer lets a field go fallow for a season. And as we know, pigs will eat damned near anything that’s past it’s prime and not suitable for anything else.
So while it may seem simpler and easier to just focus on growing crops, you actually waste a lot of what you produce if you don’t raise certain animals along with them. Which is why a lot of farmers who don’t have the room or equipment for both will make arrangements with other farmers to trade between them. A farmer who only grows crops will make an arrangement with a cattle farmer to trade the byproducts of his crops for a portion of the beef come slaughter time. Not to mention he may also trade for manure to help fertilize his fields.
No matter how you look at it (unless you’re one of those animal activist nazis), animal husbandry always makes more sense than agriculture alone.
There are some Vegans who make videos on Youtube in support of being Vegan. Ralph Smart is one of them, and Paul Nison at least used to eat a 100% Raw Vegan diet, though I saw a video title which looked as if he said he started eating cooked food too. I can see the point if it means not overdoing it or underdoing it on food, whatever that happy medium is. As long as we’re talking about farming here and not going for calves or other young animals, isn’t it quicker to grow and harvest plants than it is with animals? Then again I have to admit I have no experience hunting game or transporting it then gutting it, or raising chickens or whatever outside of imagining. I have a little experience growing food.
I guess the reason Claire’s rant was so odd was because of how out of nowhere it was.
Never in any of her YouTube videos did she ever show signs of being an Eco-nut (at least, not from what I’ve seen). In fact, her Twitter profile originally read “cheese lover” before she suddenly went vegan. So I have no idea where that attitude came from.
I love how here, knowing Claire is only a teenager, we’re not making fun of her at all (Not including Catfood). Lots of maturity showing. But made me think back to when I was a teen. I was a huge racist and mishomosexualitistic… Which means I hated the gays. I was a total nazi. Like, completely a nazi. And then I met the people I was meant to hate and realised that they weren’t some exception, but rather, I was just an idiot that was totally wrong. I am so thankful no-one made a big deal out of how I acted, or else I may have stuck to my guns and never realised I was wrong, to try and save myself embarassment. So let’s continue to not make a big deal out of this moment too. Let is pass.
@SeraphimDawn
Six. You posted to say that SIX times. That we should be scared she’ll turn into a SJW. Did you just forget you already posted that or what? Kinda makes you sound obssessive.
You’ll find that basically all the staff I’ve encountered are actually pretty cool people, and largely undeserving of all the hate they get, for one reason or another.
