I think with most characters it’s more open to interpretation than anything. We all see things differently, so it’s easy for like Person A to see Twilight and Rainbow Dash as lovers, and Person B to see them as just friends or something. As a whole I’ve actually never given it much serious thought, to be honest; I typically ship characters because I think they’re cute together or I personally like the pairing, as opposed to actually going on any canon basis for it.

Yeah, thats true. I like straightforward answers thats just me. I dont care either way about Lyrabon, they arent characters im attached too. I guess some fans are the same way.

This is my theory, honestly, that they are written as lovers but the writers deny it just to avoid controversy.
 
Like, you don’t need shipping goggles to see them as lovers. You need special goggles to NOT see them as lovers. Cheek rubbing, arm holding, ending on a heart-shaped iris wipe, etc. The showrunners aren’t that dense; if they didn’t want these two to be seen as lovers they wouldn’t do that stuff.

I think the writers claim they’re just friends. It’s a believable claim. But many people still like the… other interpretation. Just because they’re claimed to just be friends doesn’t mean people won’t ship them.
