Make him evil. Like an evil presence that takes control over him (dark residue from former villains, he was affected both times, maybe will be again). No need to change him though, just add a split personality, so that he doesn’t even realize he’s a diabolical chessmaster. Two birds with one stone - he gets screen time and doesn’t bore you to death. And in order to recover he has to find strength within himself, or something. How’s that?

Of what? I’m not one of those ‘he stole my waifu’ guys - never understood forging crushes on fictional characters - I’m a fan of animation, especially story telling. Flash as a character has all the potential of a worm on a sidewalk on a hot summer day. He can best be described as the pretty boy with a crush on the protagonist and a fondness for music, which is just about every pre-teen male love interest ever written. I honestly think if anyone likes Flash Sentry they might do well to watch teen drama, because those will be chalked full of similar characters.

Well, consider this; how could he be saved? What could be done to make Flash so much less cardboard? He has just enough character development that he can’t be just anything. He’s clearly not a smart character, in fact it’s seeming more and more like he’s the dumb pretty boy. I’ll admit, if they made him so stupid that it was hilarious (Idiot Sentry), that might help him, but I have my doubt they’ll do that and run the risk of “ruining” him.

Can’t find an english version of that, so I can’t tell you, but if what I’ve been told about the supposed translations is true, all it really does is establish him as a music lover who doesn’t like people messing with his hair. This doesn’t really help his case, and the worst part is the characters accompanying him are more interesting than he is.

Him being in the movie will be just as effective as him not being in the movie. I have no love for Flash Sentry, and I consider his character well beyond saving at this point. If thps48’s statements before were accurate, his continued appearances can only be attributed to him being the dreaded creator’s pet.

Thing is, Hasbro’s conception of the character is the character, and it defines not only everything he is intended for, but everything he has done up to this point. Flash as a character lacks autonomy; his purpose begins and ends at his interactions with Twilight Sparkle, both in the movies and in toys.

Flash’s only potential in the story is as a love interest. As I said above, his purpose begins and ends with his interactions with Twilight Sparkle, and at that he doesn’t really do much more than exist. He’s not a character, he’s a role. The fact that Flash is reliant on Twilight as a character makes him a poor concept. They had many chances in the first movie to try to make Flash interesting - even making him not speak was an option that would have seen better results - but they instead chose to force more and more awful cliches on him until he became such a cardboard cutout that he is likely beyond salvaging at this point.

I think that was a matter of the writers, knowing the Wonderbolts would be involved, just sticking the most popular Wonderbolt in the most prominent Wonderbolt role without regard to whether it was positive or followed what little characterization she’d been given before.

True, the show always keeps us on our toes, XD. That’s the beauty of it. And like I said, who knows, we may get a surprise or two out of the film as well as the rest of the season.

They’ve been building up to Rainbow’s big breakout role in the Wonderbolts, but I assume they find them so boring that they largely haven’t bothered, lol. Which is as I’ve said is Flash’s problem.
 
Though, a large part of this show’s appeal is the innumerable theory and prediction discussions, all of which are sustained by the fact said show is one, big, long, never-ending teaser. That… Or they’re trying to ape Star Wars… I don’t remember why I would think that. XD

I like to think of a character as a LEGO set. You can build it and change it. Flash may have only a few traits, but nonetheless there is room for more to be built upon. Or changed.
 
Remember Spitfire? Captain of the Wonderbolts up on a pedestal, then suddenly bouts of apathy towards cadets and teammates.

personal experience has made me factor in low percentages as still very much possible rather than no chance in hell.
