I guess what I meant was, Luna externalized her guilt in the form of the Tantabus to punish herself. Once she realized she had nothing to feel guilty about, she could take those feelings back into herself and make herself whole again.
But Luna already said she purposefully created the Tantibus to punish herself for her sins as Nightmare Moon. Your last sentence doesn’t quite make sense.
Here we see Luna realizing the Tantabus was just her punishing herself, the same way Apple Bloom finally realized her nightmares were just her driving herself crazy obsessing over getting her cutie mark.
