It’s a very slow moving and not-so-violent earthquake involving a great deal of motion on Canterlot’s part.
 
Fortunately there’s no real rocks to grind under neath the city anymore and then there’s magic and shit so no one feels anything.

The buildings of Canterlot moving is so commonplace that they never bother to think too hard on it. Some ponies even just stand outside their house and wait for their office to come to them.
