And lo and behold, many claimed the low ratings for the Discord episode were łow because it was “a Brony episode”.
 
Because apparently any over the top episode is directed solely at Bronies…

Probably just because of the hiatus.

Discord’s episode also had bad ratings compared to others. Its less to do with the quality of the episode and more about people forgetting there was a new episode what with the fact they took time off between each as well as the commercials still showing the first episode as being all new.

Just wanted to correct a teen bit there. Bon Bon’s voices are never referenced, her agent identity was made purely to make “Bon Bon” a valid name for her, despite her real name being Sweety Drops. This is still cealry a fandom nod, but for a different reason.

Sadly, this is probably why the ratings were crap. The little kids who watch this can’t understand the need to show secondary characters so, well, yeah.

Yeah, if I ever become a parent, I wouldn’t have this kind of behavior, unless there’s an action packed fight in the show!

Except they were. Derpy being a mailmare and giving out muffins, Vinyl and Octavia being roomies, the crazy teasing with Lyra and Bon Bon (and bon’s agent thing based on her many voices). And let’s not mention Doctor Whooves.
 
This was fanservice: the episode, and it was pulled off wonderfully.

I imagine this would be the typical reaction for Slice of Life.

I feel kinda weird, because this is a bit too close to what happened with me. I watch the show with my little sister and I was way more psyched about this episode than she was.

Um, most of the references in “Slice of Life” were taken from or inspired by the brony fandom, not the show directly.

The Doctor and Derpy look cute. And I love how Octavia’s trying to stop Vinyl from performing an epic riff.
