It’s because filters. Poop is filtered out by default, so if anyone actually goes and finds pics like that, it’s because they decided to disable that filter. And since poop usually evokes a pretty extreme reaction from those that dislike it, they learn to add it back to their filters pretty rapidly.
 
Innocent sonic pics like this, on the other hand, aren’t usually filtered, and are posted infrequently enough that most people that dislike the crossover don’t feel the need to add it to their filters. So instead, they just downvote them every time they see them.
 
Sonic is kinda stuck in between people who dislike it downvote it and people who dislike it feel offended enough to just filter it out. (Or at least that’s my theory anyway.)

I’m not a fan of sonic but I agree that that doesn’t make sense. Seriously, anything with poop in it should be downvoted significantly on upload imo.

it consistently pisses me off how many downvotes sonic crossovers get here. I just don’t understand why. This website will give poopy diapers a swarm of favorites but something as fun and innocent as this gets downvoted to hell. There’s clearly nothing wrong with the art quality itself, so what the hell is the problem?

Seriously, the consistency of downvotes on Sonic crossover pics – not just the crap ones, though there are definitely a lot of those – is kinda fascinating in a pathetic way. The speed and assurance of it implies there’s just a… Confederation? Of users watching the associated tags just to make sure pics get downvoted. (Or just one user with like fifteen accounts.)
 
And putting that kind of effort into something like that is plain mystifying to me.

Yeah, I’m gonna agree with you. It’s cute and rather well drawn. I just find it weird that she’s a hedgehog like anthro. I mean, there are other animal anthros in Sonic so it wouldn’t be a stretch to make her pony.

Honestly, this is a cute and innocent picture. It’s almost as if any picture featuring an MLP/Sonic crossover deserves to be downvoted. There are some very cool ones, or adorable, as in this case.
 
Only thing I would criticize is that Scootaloo looks like a winged hedgehog instead of a humanoid pegasus.

ahh okay. i saw the thumbnail and assumed the sonic-ized scootaloo was just amy rose and was one click away from reporting it. glad i checked the actual pic!
 
also, this pic may be mildly weird but it’s decently drawn and completely innocuous, so i’m not really seeing why all those downvotes are warranted. i mean i know derpibooru has a thing about sonic and a lot (albeit not all) of the sonic-related pics are piss-poor in terms of quality, but i’d argue this isn’t really bad at all.
