Yup, after flight camp she became an adult raised by a society of money grubbing, selfish, and secluded griffons living in an impoverished shell of the Kingdom’s former self and she became everything I just mentioned and when it came to the party and she had to choose between her deeply instilled pride or her one true friend, unlike someone like AJ, she choose to save face and leave.  
She even sound regretful about with the “I had a friend once, but you saw how that turned out” line.

It was always sad.
 
Just, M6 are always treated like a pantheon of goddesses that can do no wrong.

Or maybe she was meant to be a bully in season 1, but over the years the writers started to feel bad for her, and made Griffonstone a dump so they can use it to explain Gilda’s behavior?
