It wont work, there is no chemistry between the two or any foundation to built a relationship. They are too unlike in personality and demeanor for anything to develop past that of friendship.

I hope we actually see more of this friendship in-show rather than just informed via other characters. So far all we’ve seen is Discord handing her that bouquet and that’s it. I want more, and I want it to be gloriously awkward and stumbling.

I am honestly shocked by how many times I have to reiterate this; Books and comics are SECONDARY CANON! In other words, optional until a writer sees fit to use it on the show, where it then becomes primary canon and thus overrides whatever fan theory you or anyone else might have had.

I don’t care about what’s canon or not, you can feel free to debate that for the ages and have a rocking time with it. If what’s canon is what matters above all else, I can see why people see fans of something as obnoxious little tools.
 
but more on my headcanon, I suppose the description of Return of Harmony is headcanon too? Like I said though, I don’t care, I just find that small description far more interesting than what you described there and if your description is anything to go by for that book, then good riddance, I definitely don’t need to waste my time reading crap like that.

even as far as backstory goes, this origin story is just one more headcanon to add to a pille, because the show sets the record and last I remember, the episode Return of Harmony said different. Luna and Celestia noticed how terrible life for ponies were and interfered in Discord’s plans, they weren’t rulers of anything prior to that, they simply usurped his throne.
 
“Before my sister and I stood up to him, he ruled Equestria in an eternal state of unrest and unhappiness. Luna and I saw how miserable life was for Earth ponies, Pegasi, and unicorns alike, so after discovering the Elements of Harmony, we combined our powers and rose up against him, turning him to stone.”
 
the only thing this description of a story of yours does is undo the greater sense of achievement and weight the backstory used to have, by making some truly stupid decisions such as painting every faction into a very dull and uninspired black and white. Discord is the evil piece of crap that came in and usurped the throne of the sisters, the sisters being the obvious victims of the story having lost a kingdom and their people’s peace as a result of them being replaced and for no other reason than Discord has to be the evil guy of the story, simply punched him in the face and realized that they can be rulers again, since nothing of any significance happened.

Well it seem that you didnt read AKR book about Luna and Celestia diary. It is described how she become a princess. Starswirl crowned her and ponies build her a castle. It is obvious at this point that Discord just appeared from nowhere and took the power. Actually Twilights Kingdom stated that there is a higher chance that Scorpan had an affair with Celestia than Discord ever had so its illogical for me why everyone tend to think that they are connected somehow. Maybe Celestia and Luna had a romance with Tirek and Scorpan? Not a bad headcanon?

Only 4 and 5 are stated facts, here. There’s no stated fact as to where Discord came from, there’s no stated fact as to whether Celestia and/or Celestia and Luna were ruling before Discord showed up, and therefore there’s no stated fact as to whether Discord defeated them or not. All we know is:

I dont like when people twist the stated facts to fit their headcanon. Just because they lived in same world 1000 years ago doesnt mean that they had to stick together. From what canon say until proven otherwise is:  
1.Celestia was ruling over ponies  
2.Friendless Discord came from another land (probably just like Tirek and Scorpan from Badlands)  
3.Discord defeat Celestia and Luna  
4.Rule for unknown amount of days/months/years  
5.Celestia and Luna find EoH and defeat him

Yeah, if your lover is in another universe and you can’t go there anymore or Bad Things Will Happen and he’s dead/insane anyway… there’s no particularly good reason to stay faithful to someone you can never be with again. You don’t forget your past loves when you move on to new ones… and 90% of Dislestia fanfics give Discord and Celestia a past from before he turned evil, which would have predated Celestia’s thing with Good King Sombra by at least a thousand years. So if your true love is lost to you, is there anything wrong with rekindling what you had with a childhood sweetheart?
 
(And before people start in with the “but he never had a friend”… judging from how I hear guys describe the concept of being friends with women, apparently most guys think that friends and girlfriends are completely different things. “I never really had a friend before” could well be referring to platonic friendship. Also, Discord’s memories of the past could be crap; also Discord strikes me as the kind of guy who retroactively rewrites his reality, so that if he had a friend who then became his enemy, that person was never his friend to begin with, in his head.)
 
Ship wars are really annoying. Celestia isn’t stuck with just one guy for all eternity and sucks to be her if he dies or is lost to her; Discord’s probably not willing to be tied down to one girl anyway; so why not multi-ship?
