America, definitely. They seriously are horribly persecuted in a lot of other countries. Being homosexual is a capital offense in Saudi Arabia, for example.

Homosexuality has been known to natural philosophy since the Greeks, so science has known about it as long as whatever you think of as science has existed.

I actually hadn’t learned, but had the scientific community even known about the existence of homosexuality before Stonewall?

If you think that commonality (you wouldn’t even know if it weren’t for the news) compares to what the KKK was like back in its hayday, then you really must not know anything about what the U.S. or the world was like in the old Wild West days.
 
We have gay parades in this age. Back then, this (the comic) was pretty much gaurunteed if it got out that you had homosexual relations, and this is the nicer end of what might happen to you.
 
I think the point of the original comment was that a vocal group of homosexuals seems to either get or try to create the impression that they’re still persecuted extremely heavily, though in reality most people are pretty much indifferent, and it probably won’t stop you from getting a job or something - at least most of the time.
 
So it’s not that there’s none, just that there’s not as much as some people make it out to be.

I think that’s his point. They seem to imagine this fiction is reality, though it’s really not. Or rather, to be more precise, it’s not common as they make it out to be.

Yeah that sounds like most of the people here where I live and you’re right about the U.S. being the worst I live in Indiana. My father told everyone he knew about me being gay and how he tried to “fix me” and no one thought what he did was wrong though they knew he beat me pretty often since I was three but they thought what he did was him doing god’s work, then they turned me into a social pariah none of the other kids were allowed to play with me and I still have no friend’s people drive past my house and yell homophobic slurs every couple of months and throw trash in my yard and as stated before was nearly run over.
