It does seem to be suggested that some generations of changelings have passed since they first emerged from the ooze. If all the changelings from them have been alive and with her all that time, then surely that changeling in the Trogan horse would’ve known her crown was not an antenna. And it may be that the holes left in them after the Battle of Trot are now hereditary.
