seriously though, if twi’s castle isn’t used to focus some sort of death laser on their meeting room next season I dunno what.

if she ever get a royal guard for herself i think it would be nice to see spike training to become a warrior so he can be their captain

Ok, I really don’t get why people are being drama llamas over this.  
it’s just a picture showing the logical conclusion of Twilight getting her own guards after receiving the title of a princess and her own castle. Or am I missing something here …?

Anyway on subject, I heard it speculated the reason Twi doesn’t have her own guard is the artists don’t want to spend time and money animating them, and likely her friends can do a better job.
 
It does make me wonder if they’ll give Twilight guards for an ep, they’ll be the comedy of them following her around constantly and Twilight will end up ditching them for her friends.

And Shining Armor WAS Celestia’s Captain of the Guard, untill he went with Cadance to the Crystal Empire.  
I doubt it would be a big problem to simply have him reassigned to her guard. A bigger problem would be that he’s new, so probably not an officer.  
Maybe Twily could just take on Big Mac as her new captain of the guard. Then he might actually get to do something, for once.

The idea is that in a feudal society like Equestria, each princess most likely has her own personal guards, so Twilight will need to get her some.

He’ll transfer. I mean, unless we learn something else, he’s not a Crystal Empire native, so he probably transferred there. Besides, Cadance, being the princess of love and all, would be willing to part with him.

I think the OP is absolutely right in hypothesizing that Twilight will get some royal guards. Though they may end up being more useful as protection from rabid fans than from enemies of the state.
