I mean, I get what you’re trying to say, probably agree, and Balance isn’t the word I would use, but Sunset as she is now isn’t in quite such a lofty place of purpose.
 
Perhaps, as things continue, she may get there.

And when I say flipped, I mean she isn’t balancing her old outlook with her new demeanor, she’s been broken into a meeker, more dependent self while dealing with the fallout of her past, completely lacking the bravado, negatively applied empathy or stronger willpower that she once had, even though it would help her deal with it.
 
Zuko had to be bad at being good before he got it down, and the distrust shown to him until that point was a symptom of that. Sunset is now nothing but differential, toothless, and submissive and is still ragged on.
 
And the six aren’t exactly looking to her for a perspective on villainy. I don’t think needing one was ever a thought that crossed their minds.
 
All this you’re saying about balance and linking worlds is just striking me as premature.
 
Like the alicorn Rd, Sunset’s mark is just an instance of symbolism they might not even capitalize on.

She is the ONLY person in both existances who knows how to actually live and thrive in both worlds. The fact she JUST became an element recently shouldn’t be held against her potential should it?

Confined to a single side? The only thing keeping her on one side is her own insecurities and issues, and like I said she only JUST awakened as a new element.

Uhhh, now your making even less sense. That’s how most heroes of balance start out, like Zuko. (Unless they are an inhuman neutral party, as far as most fictional stories go.) The whole point of having a hero of balance is that they weren’t the original heroes of light and good like the stories start out with.
 
Either way the point is, she has a perspective the mane 6 never had, the perspective of villains and people who don’t have awesome friend success stories, like Trixie or Gilda. Sure, Rainbow Dash can think like a thief or rogue, and that’s always helped, but Sunset can relate more then anyone to rough around the edges characters(although I admit, they themselves didn’t write that many grey scenes for Sunset in Equestria Girls. As good as the sequel was, EG was a horrendously rushed movie)
 
I’m a little surprised your arguing against her being the element of balance, Ponypon. Not only did you avoid the point about her power linking the worlds. and balance fits in with everything she’s done, the cutie mark design is pretty damning.

I never implied I thought that being the element of friendship made the element of magic obsolete. You made that assumption. After all, Friendship is Magic but magic isn’t always Friendship. Sometimes magic is just magic. Magic can even be weak-willed at times, while the other elements imply strength of character.
 
Besides, they probably wouldn’t go for the name “friendship” when naming her element, its not like anyone has a monopoly on friendship itself.

I would like to point out if Sunset is the Element of Friendship (Magic). Human twilight can’t be the “same” element.

And to be succinct on her moral balance, I wouldn’t call it balanced, just….flipped.

If the sirens had magic in the human world before Sunset even got there, then the only way to confront them was with good magic in the human world. Good magic that didn’t exist until Sunset brought the crown to the human world.
 
As for the second part, I don’t understand the question. How does Sunset NOT qualify as the element/hero of Balance?…both in a dimensional sense(lives as both a unicorn and a human, magic linked both worlds) and a moral sense(she wasn’t default good, she knows what its like to be tempted by evil desires)

I really love this symbolism. I’m surprised their isn’t more yin-yang symbolism of Sunset out there, its her defining trait and cutie mark.

Those are some good theories, especially the second one.
 
Your first guess, respect, seems just a generic element guess. Possible, but nothing that really explains anything.
 
The third guess is kind of out there since basic magic should of in no way ‘completed’ the harmony blaster’s rainbow and turned it into a god-form.
 
The element or balance/unity/friendship, seems to be the best bet so far. Also, since they introduced Human Twilight in the same movie they introduced Sunset AS the 7th element, its a safe bet that Human Twilight is the Element of Magic as well, since the fate of both worlds seemed more intertwined then we thought.

Interesting. The EQG forms are Yin and Yang while the pony form represents Wu (absents for harmony).
 
As for the Element of Harmony in the first movie she did not have respect for anyone. Being mean and using people to gain what she wanted. But in the second movie she taught a lesson in respecting others. So She would a the Element of Respect.
 
On the other hoof, Sunset is a mirror version of Twilight. Be if twilight wanted more in her studies and demanded to be taught only to be denied. so many others find Sunset as an Other bearer of the Element of magic. Keep in mind that the elements took the shape of the bearer’s cutiemark. Some think her Element is the Element of Friendship. Since Friendship IS Magic
 
Lastly there has been thoughts that she does not have a Element of Harmony and simple was adding her own magic to aid the them.
