With a thorough enough analysis of dragon physiology, including what nutrients are needed for embryonic development before laying or even a general inventory of gem derived nutrition, they could create a rock candy compatible with pony digestion and shaped like a gem as a supplement for pregnant ponys with dragon/pony hybrid children.

Yeah, my mom can attest to this. She always used to talk about how, despite how she’s somewhat averse to having bread fairly often, she had a bagel, if not two, every day for breakfast while she was pregnant.
