@Reficul
it’s a tough one ain’t it? people want to the story to flesh out flash’s characterization but people don’t want precious minutes being devoted to him. an official comic might be a solution but then some people don’t consider the comics canon so, people will still get upset no matter the choice but leaving flash as is is the worst possible outcome (for him at least).
I’d imagine the writers are in a tough place when it comes to Flash. Now on one hand, you have people who dislike him for not having much character, and yet is paired with Twilight. On the other hand, giving him character development would require him to show up more in some form which would piss of the same people. Probably more than a little annoying.
“Ever read a fan fiction where someone’s boring/stupid OC or self-insert human gets one of your favorite characters to fall for him on first sight because he’s just sooooo awesome?”
You see here’s where a lot of people who dislike Flash lose me. He didn’t gain her attention for being awesome. It’s not that he has a guitar, a car or what have you. It’s that he helped her out when she was in a time of need. He’s also a big spaghetti goof like she is. And to place devil’s advocate here, what has Twilight done to earn Flash’s affection? Why must their relationship be built upon proving one’s worth to the other in the 1st place? Have you ever had a mutual crush? Not much is required, especially if the other person feels the same way. Does Rarity need a reason for all of her crushes? Does Celestia need a reason for becoming infatuated with good Sombra apart from he’s a good guy, whom she can also find herself attracted to?
Honestly I’m indifferent to their mutual infatuation. I personally could live without him getting more screentime than is necessary because I wouldn’t want episodes devoted to that. However, I also do not mind the small amount of screen time he does have, which does have it’s place. When it comes to Flash, his really vocal detractors are much more annoying then his maybe 3 minutes of collective screentime.
Twilight = A good character with a likable personality
Flash = A dull cardboard cutout of a character who Twilight only likes for superficial reasons
Ever read a fan fiction where someone’s boring/stupid OC or self-insert human gets one of your favorite characters to fall for him on first sight because he’s just sooooo awesome? This is essentially the same thing. Most of the people who hate Flash (other than those who are just jealous because Twilight is their waifu) do so because they don’t really think he has earned any of Twilight’s affection.
Why do people hate flash? I want a legitimate answer. Because from what I see is a lot people butthurt over a fake character likeing another fake character.

Basically that everyone who believes EqG is even acceptable, much less good, needs to leave, though with ruder language and typical 4chan-ese.
