Pretty sure that the “Hexagon” draft was the only thing that had the Dark Yellow Ranger idea… That might have been something that was still considered even after it became Ninja Storm, though…
@Jarkes
Competition is pretty much the reason it was there. if an Ultraman knock-off could do what a sentai couldn’t, that’d pretty much kill the sentai era.
and Tentoraiger actually WAS considered in Ninja Storm, but was cut.
@Jarkes
To be fair, JDF holds a bit more weight in the ranger commuity
Yeah, I’m pretty darn sure that Akibaranger’s producers had no idea of the existence of Amit Bhaumik’s fanfiction early plans for Ninja Storm that was known as Hexagon (but let’s be real here; that whole thing REEKED of bad fanfiction). Heck, I don’t think anyone knew of its existence until Linkara talked about it on his History of Power Rangers video series. TentoRaiger was likely just a nod to how often times, beetle-themed heroes in Japanese media will have a third member based on a ladybug. That’s actually a good point on the other bits, though that DOESN’T explain where that out-of-nowhere Ultraman parody came from, other than that Ultraman is made by one of Toei’s top competitors.
Though the first season of Akibaranger had some Power Rangers references as well (the scorpion tattoo springs to mind).
@Chapelseed
Thanks for the explanation, though I feel the need to mention that I don’t like be called a rookie since I’m more of an “outsider” than a “rookie”.
Also, how come they couldn’t use the name “Power Rangers”? It seems a bit weird that they couldn’t is all.
@OneOverTwo
to put it bluntly, Tyranno Ranger and Dragon Ranger of Zyuranger were brothers, Geki and Burai. the song of the Zyusoken, or Dragon Dagger. It is the call of an ancient ritual.
In Zyuranger, Burai died, and Geki used the power of Zyusoken and the Dragon Ranger armor along with the rest of the Zyuranger team to defeat Bandora (aka, Rita).
the song connects to the brothers as it does to Dragon Caesar.
To hear that tune released the americanization of the two and allowed them to regain their sense.
@OneOverTwo
watch what you say, buddy, that’s my club on dA. and it was a rights issue.
though I really shouldn’t be surprised that a rookie doesn’t understand the reason behind how it worked
@Chapelseed
I saw the “Powerful Rangers” episode (Why did they call them that? Were there rights issues or something?) (Only episode of it I watched). That episode suffered from a severe lack of taking advantage of its premise, (the only clever joke was the “overly muscled comic book depiction). Also I was confused as to why the Dragon Caeser music snapped them out of it since that music was used in Power Rangers too.
& Akibaranger is unofficial so it doesn’t count.
