Brandonshy (Celestia’s Son): i wouldn’t say that, mom.

SEI! HUYAH!
what’s the next step in your master plan?
if they work for the government or someone, they’re called privateers/corsairs. if they’re a self-governed ship, then they’re plain pirates.
that usually applies to who your enemy is. Pirates weren’t called pirated until someone bitched about them
I thought that you only needed to answer to the call of adventure then.
you still have to answer to someone as an Adventurer.
But then you don’t get to wear the pirate specific costume parts! (as easily).
Like horizontal striped shirts, mountainous ruffles, captain hats, parrots, or eye patches.
The imagery you’re trying to invoke just isn’t as effective if you’re not called a pirate! & if it is they’d just get called pirates anyways…
It’s not just adventure & treasure I’m after, it’s also imagery!
It’d be like wearing a lot of red to intimidate your enemies, except instead of red it’s pirate clothes
(which can be, but isn’t necessarily red).
@Chapelseed
personally if it’s treasure seeking and adventuring you’re after, you better call yourself an adventurer than a pirate.
the main goal was finding a great treasure that would make dreams come true. they could have done something.
It’s not so much pirates as good guys. it’s about defying a greater power and taking freedom as your own.
the most modern example is One Piece, which is what Gokaiger was based off of (like Hurricanger for Naruto and Magiranger for Harry Potter, [though that one SuperHero Taisen OVA that had the KR Decade adversary using a japanese alliteration pun for how Hurricanger was for Harry Potter]). Pirates set sail to find a great treasure, but are stalled by Marines and the World Government (in Gokaiger, the Zangyack Empire, and the Privateer Basco ta Jolokia)
in the case of Gokaiger, the role of Gol D Roger and Shanks is handled by AkaRed, the spirit of the Red Sentai. setting forth the MC’s ambition and the rebellious nature against the great adversary.
Eh, they’re not much worse than most ninja in general.
Or samurai for that matter.
& dinosaurs? What good have they ever done, huh?
Though mainly that part of Super Megaforce bugged me because they were still obviously pirates, ya know?
but doesn’t gokaiger have an unfair advantage being a nostalgia show? (take out the morph into other characters gimmick and what does it have?)
@OneOverTwo
seriously, i don’t get where all the pirates are good guys comes from.
I was really disappointed that they didn’t have them explicitly become pirates (even though they were clearly pirates) because that would have been a great parallel to the Mighty Morphin’ rangers becoming ninja.
eh, it was kind of put into detail in the Super Power Beat Down, though it was gold there.
Super Megaforce is a stain on the Rangers because it could NEVER hold up to Gokaiger.
but ont thing that would have been AWESOME would be all of Tommy’s suits merged into one. like this and this
And when the green suit appeared in the Dino Thunder episode “Fighting Spirit,” it had this weird silver stripe on the helmet for some reason.
Actually, funny thing that particular version of the suit was used in the Super Megaforce episode, but while we saw the silver stripe on the helmet in production pics, the final episode had the stripe edited out.
This is the costume he was in this season, he didn’t wear the green suit again ’til Super Megaforce. Though his green, white, & zeo ranger number 5 suits do appear in a weird dream sequence where he fights them.
Wrong series.
Not in this series.
Cue the epic transformation!
