Along with trash like Budweiser and Justin Bieber, Hollywood is one of the purest possible examples of the fact that people will cheerfully lap up absolutely irredeemable crap if they see enough advertising telling them it’s popular. There is literally no other explanation for the film careers of Adam Sandler or Tyler Perry.
So, if everyone worthwhile hates the Oscar’s, why is it still on? Wait, I’m forgetting the Family Guy effect again. XD
Like politics pretty much everywhere, it is indeed bullshit, but it’s still the status quo; the reason why the Oscars have been pointless fappery for decades is that almost no Academy judges actually watch anything like all the films nominated in a given category. Frakked if I can find an article online about it that isn’t ruined by ABP-resistant intrusive advertising garbage, but it’s been an open secret in the film world for years. Calls for any judge who hasn’t seen every movie they’re voting on to recuse themselves have gone exactly nowhere, largely because the entire process is so secretive that public shaming campaigns can’t get any traction.
Doesn’t matter, if it’s up for an Oscar, they should be obligated to watch it.
Something winning the Oscar that no one in the Academy watched is just as unethical as something winning because the Academy only watched that as opposed to its competitors.
The Academy really doesn’t like animation. For various reasons.
>Academy didn’t actually watch Frozen.
My feelings on the film aside, this is bullshit. They should be obligated to watch any nominated film.
And they most certainly shouldn’t declare something they haven’t even watched a winner.
I’ve seen that word used numerous times in comments all ofer the interwebs as a term, never thought i would get banned for saying it here’ maybe i should be more careful with my choice of words next time though.
It was your specific choice of words (namely, that it would be raped at the box office).
I really hope they have sense enough to advertise the heck out of it; Hollywood proves on a weekly basis that people will turn out in their millions to watch absolute hogslop if the dancing lights and sounds on their teevee tell them to, and lack of an effective marketing campaign has ruined more quality films than Alan Smithee.
I think that is a very legitimate comment. There’s absolutely no guarantee that because it did well as a TV show that it will also translate into success at the theater. There is a lot fans don’t know about this that makes me nervous.
Hasbro is honestly taking a huge gamble on this. Critics tend not to give much of a shit about animated films, honestly. (Frozen only won so many awards last year because the Academy Board vaguely knew about the film. They didn’t actually watch it.) So yes, critics panning something non-Pixar and non-Disney is very real. There are still a lot of people that are set on-edge by the name “My Little Pony”, but have no problem going to whatever Pixar is showing.
I don’t want it to be panned or bomb, but that is what can possibly happen.
Also i never said it would happen for a fact, all i meant was that due to other big titles being released the same year e.g(toy stoty 4) the movie might nit do that good
….. What’s so wrong with that?
Can i say anything now without being accused of duckery?
All I remember was you saying how the movie will bomb and be critically panned
Honestly what did i even say? Are you sure this isn’t just a misunderstanding?
Sorry i can’t even remember what my comment said!?
Next time use less picturesque terms, else the message on your last ban message will become reality.
Just like John Carpenter’s The Thing…
ApplejackQuickfix or Mjolna
He’s basically complementing the TV series.
I hope he’s not reffering to a future movie he plans, cuz if not, it would sound like “Hi, i’m Joe and i have an ego the size of Rainbow Dash’s” :p
…
Ah, who I’m kidding? I’d like to see Gilda again… And Rarity’s parents . _.
