I’m aware of those games and their notoriety, but as I’ve never played any of those games, I’m not exactly the best person to talk about them. I’ve played bioshock 1 and 2, never played infinite, and haven’t gotten into mass effect series yet.
 
That was oddly nonsensical criticism. Am I supposed to list every franchise that ended with a crapper, and every franchise that ended with a success?  
Be reasonable.

She shouldn’t have to, though, is the thing. Half the fun of these collectible figurines is getting every single variant of a character that had more than two seconds of screen time. And 65 episodes is well over two seconds.
 
Ironically, the Funko POP!s have the opposite problem: Unicorn Twilight but no Alicorn Twilight. (Unless you count Sea Pony Twilight from the movie, and I don’t.)

Eight years is long enough for literal babies to have grown up past the point of crying for hours because they got the wrong color binkie, but here we are with grown-ass adults still wailing about it.

As do some other people. That doesn’t change a thing I said. Some people liked it, but a lot of people hated it for various, completely legitimate reasons.

And yes, MLP FiM’s fandom is notorious for having a very large and very toxic “you don’t like it? Then stop talking about it and leave” bullying side of the fandom. Its been that way for a long time. Its quite disappointing.

There ARE actually plenty of shows that are good quality that DON’T make massive writing missteps and DONT make hilariously disappointing endings.
 
Of course resentments towards bad writing will have purchase here. Why wouldn’t they be? Many are valid and accurate.
 
Every finale is disappointing cause its final? Thats the biggest nonsense I’ve ever heard.
 
Avatar the Last Airbender had an ending, and barely anyone was left unsatisfied. Other classic shows like Justice League Unlimited had fully satisfactory endings. And countless anime have a consistent quality and a definitive endings with few notable complaints.
 
Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Star, these shows had highly criticized endings that even casual fans pointed out. Did they have any impact on the series as a whole?
 
YES, in fact they did. It didnt ruin them(for the most part) but it sure as hell left its impact.
 
Shows like them and MLP that sometimes batted a thousand but sometimes had really bad writing as well, enough to split the fandom on whether it was garbage or not, are being compared to shows that consistently batted a thousand, and making people wonder “why the former shows couldn’t”. And while there are always a multitude of reasons why behind the scenes, in the end, the writing dropped in quality.
 
Heck, many, MANY mlp fans often have a hard time thinking which premiers and finales WEREN’T awful. Shouldn’t a consistently good show have the opposite problem?
 
True franchises, shows and fandoms that have such a large following that it has limitless potential and flexibility, are not things to be taken lightly. Which makes it all the more disappointing when the creators make a lot of bad content and bad writing decisions. Thats why the term “wasted potential” comes up so much when discussing good franchises that deteriorate in writing. MLP never hit rock bottom but…the issues in the writing that didn’t seem very good kind of mounted up over time.
 
MLP:FIM in the very beginning struck gold and didn’t have the equipment to extract it properly. They created a show with unbelievably likable characters, an incredibly likable setting, and no shortage of musical talent either. But the writers themselves only had so much talent. Did they have the skill and dedication to create 9 seasons of good episodes, plus an overarching narrative that was enjoyable and relatable to most?
 
No.
 
People often cite Princess Twilight as the start of this downfall cause…
 
…it was the very first time the show had dared to make a story with a permanent change that was so juvenile in its concept and execution. There is nothing saying kids shows can’t have good writing. And while good writing is certainly subjective…
 
…the fact that people’s opinion of Twilight becoming a princess and other bad finales were very polarizing is a fact set in stone.
 
And any arguments like “get over it, that was x many seasons ago” don’t make a lick of sense cause often the effects of bad finales were PERMANENT. Meaning all the episodes after had to suffer to some degree from permanent changes made in poorly written episodes.
 
Of course we look for new stuff to enjoy. But that doesn’t mean people can’t ponder up retrospectives on why good shows failed spectacularly in some areas. We CAN do both. In fact it’s healthy to learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others.

Exactly. Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Miraculous, and plenty of other shows all had fan analyzed “disappointing” endings, but that never really changes the impact of these shows all together and, quite frankly, looking back, I see the MLP finale much more positively now then the days afterward from when I streamed it

Eight years is a long time to hold a grudge. And now you come crawling back, in the frankly misguided hope that your resentments will find purchase here, because of… a disappointing finale? Every finale is disappointing, because it is final. Whether the show had ended after one, five, or a hundred seasons would make no difference. Yet we carry on, because we have more to look forward to. A new generation, with new characters and new storylines.
 
The ride never ends.
