That’s a symptom of the much larger elephant in the room: No consequences for either the setting or characters outside the two-parter episodes.
 
Honestly, I get the feeling that Rainbow Rocks does everything that the main show should be doing with regards to consequences.

Who’s belittling her? I’m not, is anyone in this thread doing that?
 
She’s entitled to her opinion, (and so is anyone else who doesn’t like wings) but the problem is, sense some fans see her as the “god” of the show, they take anything she says as something they can use for their own personal agendas, and vendetta against the “controversial” directions the show has taken, be all “SEE?! SHE AGREES WITH US!” and some tend to belittle those that don’t agree with them that, “Twilicorn is an abomination, we should only love Season 1, that Meghan McCarthy/Hasbro are the devil, that Faust was the only person who made the show ‘good’,” and alot of other things they believe.  
(Not saying they’re all like that, just the rabid ones.)
 
Faust didn’t intend any drama, true… Though, she doesn’t realize how much some of her rabid fans hang on everything she says.

Sounds like she just wants a complete collection, variations et al. I’d ask why people would turn this into unrelated drama but I think I know the answer.

It makes me sad to see people begrudging Lauren over this. She’s not making long tirades bashing Twilicorn or the people currently working on the show, she just let slip that she doesn’t care for the change, which is perfectly reasonable. She shouldn’t be scorned for that.

Lauren needs to make one tweet and everybody loses their minds. It works everytime and it’s hilarious.

Honestly, I haven’t noticed that much change with Twilight, and the show sense she became an alicorn/princess. In fact, I honestly feel aside from the beginning, and end of Season 4, (and the ep’ “Twilight Time”) her “princess” status was largely ignored, or rarely even regarded. Some of my friends even feel the same way, and joked she was a “background pony.”  
She couldn’t even get a taxi in “Rarity Takes Manehatten.”
 
Also, I haven’t seen “Rainbow Rocks” yet, so I haven’t seen how that effects Twilight at all. (And please don’t spoil it for me.)

Keep in mind that ‘Alicorn drama’ isn’t some one subject like eye color people can’t get over….
 
Her status as a princess is a large, CONTINUOUS effect on the show and all other materials. It effects the plot and it effects the writing. The more positives or negatives appear related to events regarding her status, the more sub-categories or re-enforcement to ‘alicorn drama’ will appear. And unfortunately, royalty is kind of an elephant in the room.
 
It also bears mentioning that with the release of Rainbow Rocks, written by Meghan, Meghan’s opinion on the princess situation for Twilight seems to have been turned on its head as well.
 
I think its pretty clear a lot of people connected to the show and fans have overall mixed feelings. Its perfectly natural, it was a risky decision.

Let me derail this drama for a second before it gets out of hand…
 
What is Lauren Faust’s feelings on Rainbow Rocks?
 
Despite not liking the idea of EG1, as did many, this movie on the other-hand outright poked holes in the very premise of Twilight becoming a princess and changed the direction back to S1 and S2’s unity as the show’s theme.
 
Soooooo…..lesson learned maybe?
 
I don’t know, S4 had this weird way of putting almost doubtless faith in Twilight’s Princesshood at some times, and in some scenes outright mocking it and putting valid criticisms toward it or Twilight herself. I didn’t know whether it was foreshadowing or the writers just couldn’t decide amongst themselves whether it was right or not.
 
If Sunset is any evidence, maybe the situations aren’t so black and white.

In Rainbow Rocks, they finally addressed how she became a princess and questioned it, went further and questioned its very importance, and then went even further by showing the damage of being put on a pedestal so quickly has done to Twi. Rare character arcs are when a centerfold character learns they need to take a step back despite the expectations for them being centerfold, but that seems to be the flow of DHX right now.
 
I know people will comment on this way after my comment, but consider this (to people both for AND against Twilicorn)
 
Despite the riskiness of making Twilight a princess; Even if Twilight gave up her princesshood and she went from superflous princess to unicorn archmage or something….
 
… maybe it was a beneficial learning experience?
 
We fans of Twilight eventually want her to care more about her friends then her duties to Celestia. Maybe the Princess Twilight arc, combined with Rainbow Rocks’ contrast, is the step of making her wiser and the show smarter. At this point I don’t care if she’s a unicorn or an alicorn when everything in the princess arc is said and done with….I just want her to gain some independence from Celestia’s expectations.

She knows not what she just started, now people are going to assume she’s “on their side,” and such, and the Twilicorn drama will start up again… (Just wait ‘till CR, Kwark, Jax, and all the other rabid-ex-bronies, Season 1-purists, Twilicorn-haters, and such see this…)  
Won’t be long before those of us who still enjoy the show will get called “Hasdrones,” and such…
 
Though, I suppose the “Twilicorn” drama will never end in this fanbase. It’s as controversial to bronies as “green eyes” are to Sonic-fans… (And yes, I do still see them complain about that to this day… I like the green eyes personally.)
 
Also, just ‘cause Faust likes/doesn’t like something, doesn’t mean you have to feel the same way, or agree with her 100% on everything… (Try to have your own brain.) In fact, as much as I respect her works, I disagreed with her that the Disney redesign of the “Brave” girl was “sexist,” which she, and many other people protested… So much, that Disney relented, and cancelled said redesign.  
(To me, it didn’t really look that different aside from having a slightly slimmer waste, and add details to her dress.)

Does there really need to be drama about this? Of course she would have a greater attachment to unicorn Twilight, she was no longer working on the show by the time Twi became an alicorn. That doesn’t mean that alicorn Twi is bad, it means people are going to prefer the version of the character they personally worked on, regardless of the quality of later versions.

It’s OK to have personal likes and dislikes. :)  

… oh yeah. I forgot that Faust was against her becoming a princess (and REALLY against EQG too lol).

The POP version is this thing Muffin posted earlier, and I think you can draw your own conclusions as to why one wouldn’t care much for it when Funko also has proportionally correct figures at a reasonably higher price.

Maybe she just wants a full collection, and that includes both unicorn Twilight and alicorn Twilight and there’s something about the POP version (whatever that is) she doesn’t like about?

I was thinking the same thing as her. I was wondering if there was a Funko Unicorn version of Twilight.
