Interesting, but… Why is it seasons 1-3 in one place, and seasons 2-4 in another place?
I’ll be tricky to track down those sources again. One came from DHX’s fiscal report for 2012, to give you an idea that it was years ago.

I’m not overly familiar, but I don’t think the mods would ban you simply for having a difference of opinion. So long as its kept civil and all. And I hope I didn’t offend you. though it doesn’t have anything to do with being a brony in this case.
I just feel that its fair and just to apply the same freedoms to everyone. If you agree to do work for someone, then you should do the work according to what you’ve been hired to do. I expect to have to do that for people who hire/commission me, and expect the same of those I’d hire/commission.
It’s fair to have the same standards for everyone, isn’t it?

It’s not like Hasbro is forcing them to work. DHX agrees to the work.
As I mentioned in another thread, When Hasbro purchased the first season of Friendship is Magic they also purchased season two, three and four and a Movie.
At the time the sequel and season five were not purchased. These were purchased later.
Which means that DHX already knew what to expect after having worked on four seasons and a movie. Since they don’t seem to have minded the conditions enough to not agree to the contract renewal… Why should either of us?
Plus there’s a television series of Equestria girls called Equestria Academy which might be done by DHX.
So rather than not minding, they seem to enjoy the work. If this IS their artistic expression and creativity, who are you to question their artistic vision on the grounds of defending their artistic vision from those that own the property?
Is it simply because you don’t like what they’ve come up with? Isn’t that hypocritical to denounce controlling of other’s art by trying to control their art?
I doubt that.
If companies just threw money at people and told them to do whatever the fuck they want, there wouldn’t be many companies left.

I’m mostly concerned on how fucked up capitalism is, you have a huge corporation allowed to create artistic work sorely to turn people into mindless consumers. They may hire artists that have to bow down to their every will, instead of given room to take risks and produce something that’s creative.
And we don’t really let independent artists take off, because they pretty much don’t have money for advertisements, gives them no choice but to join the big corporations. It chokes creativity and all of entertainment becomes about numbers and the shareholders’ will.
Doesn’t it bother you? At least a little bit? How so called “artists” only become successful because they’re rich and popular and regularly pander to the audience, not because they are skilled? How people just continuously accept the same drivel over and over?
It has nothing to do with brainwashing. It has to do with property rights.
DHX was hired to do a job. Hasbro has final approval of what they paid for.
That’s how the world works. Just as you have approval if you were to hire an artist. So to does everyone else.

Hasbro has stipulations and specifications, and beyond that DHX is free to be as creative as they want within those specifications of the owner of the property.
Eh, Naughty Dog gets full creative control, so does Radiohead and David Bowie. We don’t know how the true quality of the show would be because Hasbro keeps forcing their hand on it, this really applies to anything else that had CEO meddling.

It’s a fucked up society, and people just accept it, a few even going so far as to defend the “poor mega corporations”. That’s what I’m trying to say.
I just find it rather pathetic how artists are forced to slave away generic work to corporations, instead of unleashing what they want to do. We could do with more work that actually took people out of their comfort bubble and that wasn’t just ripping off a competitor for their market.
Fans don’t take a stand on this fact and that we’ll be fed the same garbage forever because CEOs with no touch in reality have to make more money to build their own islands while people starve on the streets.
This entire series is because of Hasbro stifling Lauren Faust’s creativity, giving her MLP instead of accepting her pitch for a Galaxy Girls toyline and series.
I wasn’t a fan of the first Equestria Girls movie, but as long as its effect on MLP:FiM is minimal, it doesn’t bother me that they keep making new movies and/or a new series. And hey, there’s always the chance that DHX will make something in this setting that I’ll actually enjoy.
