I mean, if you wanna make up a dumb ship, be creative! Not just “Oh, these two ponies are popular, and female, just shove em together.”  
And soon it will be more popular (maybe?) and numerous than ships I wish got more love.

That logical way being the time Trixie worked in the rock farm as pictured in the Alicorn Amulet episode. Maud didn’t exist as of that episode, she was only introduced later.
