I’ll admit, “dumb” was a bit too strong a word for the idea I was trying to convey. Silly would have been more accurate, probably. But hey, maybe that’s why so many like it. I’ve never been into the “it’s funny because it’s silly lolol XD” sense of humor, but there are people that are, I suppose. Though I do have to say there are times where it is flat-out unfunny. (Princess Molestia for example.)
Of course it’s silly. Everything about this fandom is silly. But as long as people are having fun, it’s not dumb.
I’ve never really seen the appeal in roleplay, but that might be because the first kind of roleplay I was exposed to was comment section roleplay on memebase, back when I was dumb enough to like that site, so that kind of ruined it for me. But hey, like I said, that’s just my opinion.
I don’t see the point in making too big a deal of it, but if that’s what you want…
I don’t even have a Tumblr. It’s weird, and I don’t understand the impulse to do stuff like that. But, I do understand the appeal and reasoning for ask blogs.
Oh yes, because a persons own interpretation of a character is something we should shun, we should stick only with what is shown in canon media and discourage people from using their imagination.
And, that’s dumb….How? It’s just character interpretation through roleplay. People do that with everything. Not just ask blogs. It just so happens that ask blogs are more interactive and personal. It just fuels imagination and creativity more than it is dumb.
