I’d still rather have doofy little Spike at my back than half the cowards and backstabbing jerks Equestria seems to produce by the truckload.
You know what, you’re right. It’s easy to forget, but Spike is one of the most outright valiant and noble creatures in Equestria. Even at his young age he’s been through more trials than beings thrice his age, and he’s stood up to monsters many times his size. He’s going to be a formidable paladin of justice in a few decades, with the strength and longevity of a dragon and the heart of one of the best friends their planet has ever known.
Unless Spike has learned from Bruce Banner and is all like “That’s my secret, princess… … I’m always greedy.” Highly unlikely it’ll happen in the show but it would still make for a cool fan story =)
