@PonyPon
… Because they didn’t ruin the lives of 6 people, even though they had every reason to. That said, nobility might have been too strong a word.
@Darth Sonic
I agree. And it directly parallels the people of Ponyville celebrating their defeat of Discord who wanted to make Ponyville ‘chaos capital of Equestria’, but not turning the 6 into national celebrities.
@Darth Sonic
I’d like to think that when magic happens all electronics go bust, like an EMP field. That would shut down any technology plot holes, leaving only eye witness as an issue, such that can be bribed or coerced much more easily than solid proof.
@PonyPon
They magically transformed in public and it lasted a full night!
Again, the idea that few people didn’t take pictures of them the whole night is a rather ludicrious idea.
There is no proof beyond testimony that Sunset did anything wrong in a human traceable manor. If Sunset would ever get arrested, it would be for terrorizing the school as a demon…
(outloud, this is a ridicilous train of thought you guys are getting into, but whatever, I’ll ride the ride)
…and if that’s the case a full investigation would be made. One person with an undeleted photo of RD defying gravity or one person who forgets to keep their mouths shut about the other 5 transforming and wham, normal lives over. Not in the severity of Sunset Shimmer, but you get the drift.
@Darth Sonic
No, it means that wouldn’t legally be able to prove she did anything wrong without proving magic was real. And they only can do that by exposing the human Mane 5.
(rolls eyes) Jeez your stubborn about this. Use some common sense. They can’t just point at a girl and say ‘she’s a terrorist’ and not give any explanation how she did it.
@Millennial Dan
If we go to a far less extreme, if one tends to destroy or damage the trust of others, it’s quite unlikely that many will be eager to trust her again. The wary glances at her are justified.
Basically, if Sunset wants people to like her, she will have to work very hard to earn people’s trust again. Like it’s been indicated throughout the thread, though, it’s also likely some my choose to never trust her.
@CronoM
I don’t recall seeing anyone catch a picture of Sunset transformed. Even if they did, who would believe them after the fact, with no lingering magical artifacts or other solid evidence? These days, a skilled enough photoshopper could make anything look real.
You still have a crater and a wrecked building to contend with, but in our world, we would just assume it was a bomb that went off and that any witnesses who said they saw someone magically turn into a demon were delusional.
@Darth Sonic
If the school didn’t all make a pact to delete all their vid phones of that night and pretend it never happened(outloud anyway), the other 5 would be experimented on as well. (with a lot more hospitable conditions then some of you are suggesting Sunset would of gotten mind you, but they still would not have a chance at normal life again)
They transformed into pony hybrids and spent all night in those forms. You CANNOT tell me a few of them weren’t taking small photos of Rainbow Dash defying gravity while they were partying the night away. They probably all decided at the end of the night it was best to keep this the town-secret.
@Joshua
I guess I did. That said, my original point still stands: there is no possible way Sunset could have avoided being locked away in some form after the end of EQG1.
