Ick. Bratz is way worse.
There’s also uncanny valley to consider. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with liking the models or the outfits for what they are, but I don’t care for the bratz dolls like proportions and like it when the characters are in things that distract from that.
That’s just silly. If you were to actually describe the proportions of the Powerpuff Girls, or the Flinstones, or Adventure Time, or whatever, you’d find that they were much “stranger” than what you find in EqG. Honestly, of all the complaints out there, that one is probably the cheapest.
As for the skirts, not every female character wore them, but even if they did, they were far from all looking exactly the same.
I know cartoons don’t do anatomical accuracy. I find the EqS style quite a bit stranger than most, however. Heads about the size of the character’s torso and very, very long legs. Basically the same exaggerations cartoons usually do taken to an extreme.
I’ve seen plenty of artists do nice thing with the models via changing up the clothes, but the movies typically put a skirt on all the girls which doesn’t help the cookie cutter look of the model to begin with. Pants and looser fitting clothing like what we see here makes the oddities of the design far less noticeable to me.
They’re not bizarre, they’re cartoonish. Since when did animated flicks ever care about having perfect anatomical accuracy? That’d be never.
I don’t know, the tiny waists combined with the the fact that all the girls seem to be about %60 leg really bumps me. The short skirts that just about every female character wears really highlight those aspects where if the characters wear pants, or longer skirts, I tend to notice the clothing more than the bizarre proportions.
That just proves you were being a goof about it before.
