Shoeshine is a true background pony in Season 1. No characteristics.
Type of nut, I think. Chestnuts remind me of fall and early winter.
Sunset Glory is pretty cool, but it seems more like a mare’s name.
Maybe Chestnut Fall? If not, we can go for Sunset Glory.

How about something with the season “autumn” or the term “sun”? His colors would match. Sunset Glory for example. :s
