@Beau Skunky
I’m sticking by my points. That being said, anger and the things I was arguing don’t have to be mutually exclusive either, nor would they be I’m sure. I don’t disagree that she’d be feeling that too, just on top of the other things I mentioned. When it comes to an awful betrayal like that, I’m sure anger would fit nicely into the things they’d be feeling too, alongside the devastating hurt and sadness.
Cyanlightning’s posted picture is mostly accurate, particularly for someone she really deeply loves and has opened her heart to, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think it wouldn’t end up including some horrible anger too, you get the idea hopefully. As I said, this meme is just a small number of stills, they don’t show the whole picture, or all the awful, horrible feelings someone in that situation might be feeling.
And yeah, you could describe the picture above as more of a parody or something making fun of the meme than what feels like a serious attempt at making one. It’s completely silly, doesn’t make sense, and portrays her as basically totally indifferent, or something awfully close to it, which is why I’ve always hated it for being OOC, and decided to make such a huge post earlier about it. Not that I like any of these, given the subject (I like happy, cute, and positive stuff in my MLP, thank you very much), they’re all very dark and terribly depressing, but yeah.
Anyway, still not satisfied with the wording, but I’ve been sitting here debating to myself about how to improve this post for way too long, and I’ve gotta be somewhere soon, so I’ll end it here. There’s more I could say, but I’d rather my mind be elsewhere.

While I don’t really wish to debate it, your assertion that everyone would react one way, or only feel one way is a bit ignorant. Some express sadness or devistation in other ways like anger. Sometimes even before sadness.
Also, if she hasn’t been as close to someone, it wouldn’t be totally OOC for her to react with anger, as she can have a temper at times, though beating him up is just a comical exaggeration.
@Vree
Ugh, reviving this thread are you? I’m very tired, so I doubt I’ll be able to put this stuff into words as well as I’d like, but here goes. Not the guy you’re replying to, but it would seem I happened to be around to reply. Could probably do without getting involved, but eh.
No it isn’t. This isn’t even remotely in character, not for her or any other character that’s not a sociopath or something. It’s not in character for her to let herself be endlessly abused either, but it’s most definitely one hundred percent in character for her to be completely and utterly hurt and devastated by it, which the picture above just doesn’t show at all. It doesn’t even feel as serious as the other pictures like this, it’s more like it’s just making fun of them.
Now, in that sort of awful scenario, Dash wouldn’t just stick around forever and get beaten on endlessly or something, and she would probably end up fighting back due to all the horrible things she’d be feeling, but if someone she loved more than anything just betrayed her like that, she’d be absolutely devastated and horribly hurt by it. Anyone would be, but Dash is of course extremely loyal and would be very, very attached and so on, and this sort of shit is just pure fucking betrayal.
This picture makes it seem like she doesn’t even care or is indifferent, which is horribly out of character and doesn’t make sense at all. I don’t like to think about this awfully dark and depressing stuff, but the one Cyanlightning posted is most definitely accurate enough, because it shows the devastating hurt and pain she’d be feeling, even if it’s not perfect or complete and could be extended. The one that this comment section is for on the other hand just makes it, I dunno, makes it look like she doesn’t even care all that much that her beloved has turned on her like that, which is pure and utter nonsense, and would be very OOC for anyone who isn’t a damned sociopath or something. Difficult to put it into words, but you get the idea.
You could extend it and add her fighting back too, if that’s what you need to see, I don’t think she’d just let herself be abused forever, please don’t get me wrong here. But it’s pretty damned natural for any character to act like @CyanLightning when the one they love more than anything stabs them in the back/betrays them like that so horribly. And especially Dash, who is someone who’d be very, very attached and loyal and loving, only to have the one she loves dearly turn on her like that? It’s not acceptance of abuse, it’s betrayal from the one you love and trust the most. And Dash is the damned element of loyalty, even. It’s very plausible that she fights back, but certainly not in the uncaring, indifferent way in the picture above.
Yeah, no. The one CyanLightning could be extended if you wanted, as these things are very brief and hardly show the full picture, but what is there very much makes sense (again though, she wouldn’t just hang around and get beaten on forever or anything). The one above on the other hand, where she just doesn’t seem to care at all, is completely nonsensical and feels like a parody more than a serious attempt at this shitty, depressing meme. There’s no emotion to it or anything, no attachment, no nothing. Just indifference. It’d make enough sense (not all of it, but the fighting back aspect, sure) for a stranger or something insulting and assaulting her, but not for someone that she loves and has opened her heart to.
I’m sad now, I do NOT like pony abuse pictures. :( I had almost forgotten about this ‘doing hurtful things’ craze. I may just go to bed soon, so if someone responds or something and I don’t reply, guess that’s why. Hopefully though, this doesn’t grow into a huge drawn out thing, because I’ve got other things to worry about later today.

Isn’t Twilight the actual leader? Or do you just mean generally gung-ho headstrong types?
The latter would explain why this doesn’t happen as much to Twilight, she can be stubborn sometimes, but she’s also a more analytical, cautious sort. As such, she doesn’t necessarily come across as “forceful” as Rainbow Dash or Applejack. Plus, the breaking for Twilight wouldn’t necessarily have to be as massive and blunt, there’s been canon episodes where all fate had to do was throw one decent curve ball and she’d go off the rails until she managed to readjust.
Fandoms always like to break the alpha male/female in any given group of characters. It’s a recurring pattern that I’ve seen happen time and time again over the past, oh, fifteen years? Rainbow Dash just happens to fit that mold. It’s not misogyny, exactly. Any other day, it could be someone like Jayne Cobb.
@Background Pony #4FC3
Yeah, its pretty sad. Dash in the fanon is becoming an ever-increasingly farther departure from her canon personality type. A lot of people regard female self-reliance and strength of conviction as being a bitch if a strong woman refuses to accept a role of complete fealty. I can only imagine that many people like to portray her in these ways as some kind of power fantasy
@Beau Skunky
She really does. She seems to have cut back on this a bit as the show goes on, but that seems to be more due to having fewer opportunities than any sort of personality change.
