Okay, after one comic page too many where the comments derailed the conversation into “I hate Celestia”, I decided to put this together.

Also lol at this 4Chan leg humping.4Chan is a scapegoat for a good reason because they are assholes and proud of it
Aren’t we all whiny idiots, though?
Well, that’s more or less how I feel about it.
That attitude you mentioned caused some bad blood when they announced that Princess Twilight was coming, and some of that could have been avoided by simply being less snarky about it.
Contrived elements are abundant in this particular arc, which I would only forgive if it was generally too awesome not to enjoy in every other way. However, it isn’t.
While I don’t think that the comic cast is as spiteful towards the fandom as you, I agree on every single other point.
I get that having only four issues isn’t a lot of time to develop characters let alone a whole world, but that just shows that it shouldn’t be done in the first place. Especially, if you’re just going to make a bad love story with a Marty Stu out of it.
I think the thing that annoys me the most is how the minds behind the comics seem to ridicule the fans. Again, I get that the vocal minority are taking their criticisms too far, but to brush off all criticism as “boo hoo my headcanon is ruined” is just insulting and really is a sign of a hack writer.
It doesn’t help that comments by Katie suggest that she knew that this arc would piss people off. Any writer worth their salt would tell you not to let fans influence you too much or even at all, but it sounds like she did this solely to piss people off. I probably read too much into it though.
I think the attitudes of the creative minds behind the comic are just bad in general. Insult the vocal minority all you want, they practically thrive on it, but don’t laugh at the fandom in general and treat us like whiny idiots. It’s insulting. Take it in stride, but don’t be a dick about it.
But what may be worst of all is that fan fic writers, the same ones they decry, have done the alternate universe idea better. This arc really does just feel like a bad fan fic.
Also, Mirror!Sombra is surprisingly worse than regular Sombra. To flesh out a character and make him worse than a generic villain with next to no lines is a real achievement. Marty Stus are worse than cliched characters any day.
I don’t expect anyone to take this seriously or even agree, but I feel that I needed to get this off my chest and see if it’s as cathartic as I hope it is.
No offence but it seems like you spend way too much time on the internet if you choose to justify your online behaviour that way.
I thought that was him.
It’s a ponified version of the Observer from Fringe.
My foolish heart is yours to take
Though I know zero things about you
PLATYPUS BUNNAAAAY!
Let’s take a short commercial break
I couldn’t bear the wait without you
Google’s your friend in this cases.
One day more,
Another day, another destiny,
This never ending road to Calvary;
These men who seem to know my crime
Will surely come a second time,
One day more…
I’d respond with the lyrics to “One Day More” form Les Miserables (I have no idea to get the accent mark to appear in that title, so I’m not bothering), but… I don’t actually know the lyrics to it. Yes, I don’t know the lyrics to the most well-known song from that musical.
one more time, one more sunset
Maybe I’d be satisfied, but then again
I know what it would do leave me wishin’
Still for one more day with you
…good point. At least the Shining arc had it’s moments. This one it’s just exposition without anything happening. Sort of like…
ONE MORE DAY.
Up, up, the Shining arc gave us some awesome Cadance moments. Therefore, it is superior.
I can’t say it’s worse than MMDW. At least that was one episode, and at least TRIED to have a moral yet ended with a lot of problems that overshadowed the good action sequence and the actually fun parts.
This arc… Just disappointing. At least the Chrysalis arc had lots of action, and the Big Mac arc was outrageous! But between this and Shining’s arc… I don’t know which one’s worse.
And those are still some pretty damn good sales figures overall, especially considering that IDW isn’t Marvel or DC (whose fans eat up any shit they dish out, no matter how needlessly grimdark, OOC, or blatantly sexist things get).
@Background Pony #797F
Why stop there? Here’s the sale figures for each issue of the main series, Cook/Price issues in bold:
#1 80,128
#2 39,841
#3 43,579
#4 41,500
#5 36,300
#6 33,903
#7 32,188
#8 33,114
#9 35,153
#10 24,475
#11 32,784
#12 23,686
#13 35,653
#14 22,990
Looks like a typical hot start followed by a slow, erratic decline that most new comic book series experience. Each arc also starts with higher sales than it finishes with. Anyway, enjoy your lamppost.
The comments here aren’t what I’m talking about. It’s these passive aggressive suggestions of action Towards Price/Cook over this arc.
…I’m not telling them, I’m ranting on the comments about my dislike about the arc. Had I been talking to them, I’d have been a lot more objective and composed. I can rage on the comics as much as I want because by the end of the day they’re just images printed on paper, when you’re dealing with real people with real feelings, you have to be more considerate.
