Game Set and Match: Poptard
I just noticed the count next to the tags. Derpy Hooves has 23/25 the number of images that Spike does. Just for fun I went to check on Big Macintosh. It turns out that Derpy has 23/10 as many images as that character.
So, basically, Derpy Hooves, a character who has only been prominently featured in two episodes, has around four lines in the series, and had only background appearances for almost all episodes has a almost the same occurrence in fan-art compared to the character who was the third person we heard from and saw and who has entire episodes dedicated to him and the character who is the most prominently-featured male relative and who is voiced by a damn talented guy and who experienced a lot of character development over the course of 4 seasons.
The reason for this? It’s because she made silly eyes once, of course. Forget actual character (had little shown until midway through season 2), familiarity (only seems to tangentially know Rainbow Dash, who dislikes her), and relevance (background pony!)… if she can be shown making those derpy eyes, then she’s gold.
Stay classy, hatedom.
Personally, I don’t hate them at all, I just wish people would do something different with them in their fanart or fanfics.
I dunno, seems there are alot of people on the site who hate the popularity of some background ponies.
To be fair, he DOES kind of, sort of resemble David Tennant as a pony… if you look really, REALLY hard.
Sad truth, and then ‘Dr Whooves’ became a walking reference to an entirely other series for who knows why anymore, and people who don’t know/care about said other series are completely lost or just frustrated.
Definately has more images than Flash Sentry, and probably more or equal to Spike.
And 90% of them are “lul she’s obsessed with humans and wants hand,” which was entirely based off a 2-SECOND BACKGROUND SHOT of her sitting upright.
Exactly. Lyra has more pics on this site than Discord. Let that sink in for a bit.
And he has far less pictures than many background characters who have even fewer lines than him, like Vinyl Scratch and Octavia. If you’re going to condemn the fandom for posting him a lot, why not also get upset at all the background pony art that in some cases eclipses the number of pictures for characters with canon personalities?
Argument thoroughly annihilated, Good Job!
Ironically, most of the people on this site are anything, BUT fans of said pairing, or said character. Half the time any image of Flash is posted, there’s a bit of drama, or complaints about his existence in the comments of said images.
Sooooo way to judge an entire fandom on just the few FlashLight ‘shippers.
Stay classy, random anon’. (Also, ever counted how many of said Flash Sentry images were “hate pics,” meme pics, or whatever? I’m willing to bet 999 rupees that Spike doesn’t get anywhere near as much hate as Flash.)
As for me, honestly I don’t feel either way about “FlashLight.” I don’t hate it, or love it.
So much this.
So, basically, Flash Sentry, a character who has been in a walk-on in two episodes, has one line in the series, and wasn’t even himself for most of the movie has a very high occurrence in fan-art compared to the character who was the third we heard from and saw and who has entire episodes dedicated to him and the character who has been the only surviving villain and who is voiced by a beloved figure and who experienced massive character growth last season.
The reason for this? It’s because he can be shipped with Twilight Sparkle, of course. Forget character development, familiarity, and relevance… if he can be in shown making out with the principal character, then he’s gold.
Stay classy, fandom.
