Lots of people do interpret religious texts and come to really good and logical (it actually is a factor when it comes to determining intent) conclusions about what the author meant by them. What’s your point?

Because we shouldn’t expect cartoon characters to at all act in logical ways or for consistencies to pop up & logically expect them to act certain ways.
 
Eeeyup. Have you even seen The Mysterious Mare Do Well? The characters don’t exist, they have writers who sometimes fuck up. There’s no logic involved in how you interpret it whatsoever.
 
& just because you don’t necessarily ship something with canon evidence doesn’t mean you don’t have shipping goggles instead of eyes.
In fact, your extreme insistence that Rarity is attracted to Twilight just because she squeezed Twilight’s face & calls all her friends “fabulous” far more strongly suggests your eyes being shipping goggles.
 
Eeenope. I don’t even ship ‘em, I just think they’re canonly in love based on evidence and the writers clearly intend it. :D

There is no evidence to support the claim that any given character in canon is attracted to the same sex.
 
If you can accept that, that’s good. Even if not, you’re still free to ship whatever you want, even it makes Logic want to shoot itself in the forehead.
