The more I think about it, that is insanely heart breaking. Damnit mow you got me thinking the same way XD

You know, when I first saw the Two Face episode dream sequence, and I got to the part where Bruce’s parents show up and say “Why didn’t you save us, son?” I misheard them as “Why didn’t you save our son?” That would have made the dream more confusing of course, but also more surreal, and suiting the flavor of a real dream. Not to mention being a lot more meta, and insightful. Did little Bruce not also die that night, so to speak? Needless to say, I was actually disappointed when I realized my mistake.

That’s more or less what I thought, except I figured the two of them could use them just fine, but only one couldn’t. The elements worked just fine to pwn Discord when the princesses used them.
 
Realistically, though, it’s probably because that’s where the show started and the writers hadn’t thought much past “Origin story, insert villain here, insert plot device there, lesson learned by audience, GO!”

Actually, I always assumed that the Elements could only be used to their full potential when used by a pony who fully embodies them. Celestia can’t fully embody all 6 elements simultaneously. When she and Luna petrified Discord, they each embodied 3 of the elements, so they worked just fine.
 
When Celestia tried to use all 6 elements at once, the power was imperfect, and she couldn’t cure Luna, only imprison her.
 
When the Mane Six showed up, with each of them fully displaying an Element of Harmony, they were able to do what Celestia wanted to do in the first place.

Honestly, I always figured that since the Elements were tied to Celestia and Luna back then, and Celly used them against Luna, that made them weaker, or imperfect, or something to that effect, preventing them from actually curing her.
 
Then when the Mane 6 used them after their convenient little friendship adventure in the forest, they had the juice to do the job for good.

Why did Luna get banished to the moon? Why didn’t she just get separated from Nightmare Moon like what happened the second time the Elements of Harmony were used on her? Did Celestia control what they did? If so, I hope she knows that she just absolutely ruined 1,000 years of her sisters life, if not even more, considering Luna likely has irreversible mental and emotional damage/trauma from the experience of spending what is probably about a quarter or third of her life alone on the moon ,thanks to very understandable jealousy and sadness at her work (and herself) not being appreciated by her subjects, because an evil being from the moon used her very sadness to strengthen itself, and take control of her body and at least partially her mind(quite likely with Luna just watching through Nightmare Moon’s eyes, utterly helpless), and end up being demonized by nearly every being in her world as being the same monster that caused such a tragedy to befall her (and partially her sister), and return after complete solitude for 1,000 years only to be completely ignorant of all the planet’s happenings over the past 1,000 years, and see that she is still treated as if she were Nightmare Moon and her work and herself are still unappreciated by any (even Celestia, because she had a clone Luna whom she likely enjoyed the company of more than that of her sister Luna), and just accepts her fate of raising the moon and being completely un-thanked for it, and realize that obviously she isn’t even important because clearly Celestia managed to run Equestria by herself, and the moon as well. Sorry for my run-on. :(

Celestia: Luna, please! Let me help you!”
 
Luna: “YOU?!? You saw what was happening! You knew there was something terribly wrong with me! I thought you were my sister! You should’ve been able to help me! But you didn’t!”
 
Nightmare Moon: NOW LOOK AT ME!!!”
 
Celestia: “But I tried, Luna, I… Luna!”
 
Luna/Nightmare Moon: “WHY COULDN’T YOU SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEE?!?”
 
Lord Solaris: “Why couldn’t you save your sister, daughter?”
 
Celestia: * Wakes up * * Hyperventilates *

Though I didn’t expect it to reference B:TAS… I was actually thinking it came from an animated comedy like Futurama.

Headcanon accepted.

The sad thing is, Celestia most likely had nightmares like this for 1000 years before the Mane Six managed to free Luna.
 
My life has reached a very weird point when I start feeling sympathy for a winged unicorn character in a cartoon.
