I wish to live in your magical fantasy world.
@Prof.NightJack
Y: The Last Man at least got the near total infrastructure collapse right. It also didn’t paint either gender as being innately superior. It went out of it’s way to show that bad things like crime and people being assholes knows no gender.

Confirmed for a troll. Feminism is a women’s empowerment movement. No ending point. Nothing to do with rights. If it was about equal rights for everyone, then why does the National Organization for Women (the largest feminist organization in the US, with 550,000 members) have a stance against equal parenting? That sounds pretty far from equality to me.

The problem is that he’s shooting off at the wrong side. We’re not the ones protecting the “This group must die” faction.
“It leads to people seeing “KILL ALL MEN” when someone is actually saying something like “don’t treat men as the default and women as the exception” and deciding that their preconceptions are justified.”
As demonstrated. “Kill all men” is a very real meme. There is no twisting of words here.
You realize he already acknowledged this, yes?
Words and logic only work when BOTH sides are willing to try them. Rational counterpoints have no effect whatsoever on someone who just wants to silence all opposing views.
Yeah no thanks. Feminists have shown that they couldn’t care less about men’s issues, and think that once THEIR issues are solved men won’t have any issues either.
It’s right in the name. “Feminism”, “feminine”, “female”. It’s a single-track movement.
True, this is getting ridiculous.
@Deadmeat
Oh yes, I saw some of that on Twitter recently. It’s spreading!

but satire!
I agree with this wholeheartedly. This is very much in the spirit of the very show this website was made to discuss. Even better is the fact that you acknowledged the existence off the… less-than-savory (I don’t intend that to be hateful, just an expression of disappointment) feminist offshoots.
A corollary though. Irony and satire (which is what this image is) does not equate to hate, nor does criticism, even caustic criticism. Not implying that that was what you were trying to say, just stating it for the record.
On the other hand…

I DISAGREE with this wholeheartedly. The idea that any single school of thought should be allowed a monopoly upon an entire field of intellectual discourse, no matter how reasonable a school of thought it is, is not an idea that should ever be entertained. EVER!
No one is “worth loathing”, because hate farming leads to nothing but violent, insane hostility that gets in the way of discussing or even understanding the issues. You could just as easily say that spousal abuse is “worth loathing”, but the people who loathe it end up as the kind of people you’re complaining about now, if their hatred is fed by being loathed for their legitimate (in their minds) complaints.
As for “echo chamber feedback loop”, that’s exactly what it is. The icons of hate resemble reality, sometimes even to a meaningful extent, but that doesn’t mean they’re based on reality. Hatred tends to twist people’s perception, intensify their prejudices, and make them overeager to confirm them. It leads to people seeing “KILL ALL MEN” when someone is actually saying something like “don’t treat men as the default and women as the exception” and deciding that their preconceptions are justified.
If you want to stop irrational hatred, the most effective way is through sympathetic and logical counterpoints. You need to tell people why you think their ideas are bad, while keeping in mind that they’re people and not monsters to be vanquished. This doesn’t always work, and it doesn’t always work immediately even when it could work eventually, but it’s much more effective than just perpetuating the cycle of hatred.
It’s fun to be idealistic, isn’t it? And slightly bury your head in the ground…
… You just ignored everything else I said, didn’t you?
Feminism is the only voice needed in gender issues. Because if you’re practicing it correctly than all genders are given equal rights.
SWERFs, TERFs, and male rape deniers.
Not saying it’s OK to paint an entire movement that has done immeasurable good in these colors. But there is still a segment legitimately worth loathing, and they are not all imaginary phantoms created by an echo chamber feedback loop.
The fact that feminism feels the need to affect the appearance of solidarity despite being a movement made out of multiple RADICALLY different philosophies makes it near impossible for them to deal with these hateful offshoots. On top of this strange need to be the sole voice in gender issues, and feminism DOES have problems.
A slacktivist is a proper description for people who are like them.

It’s also not a strawman if it’s based on an actual experience.
