@Beau Skunky Well it certainly didn’t have enough time to get done what it needed to get done for all that buildup. Also like how you just outright state ‘it would be dull’ without remembering how this show works. We definitely would have seen some backroom stuff going on, and maybe Rainbow slacking off and the others trying to get her ready for her event. “Naaaw I’m really fine, you guys are just overthinking this! PFfft!”

“Animalympics” was a good movie though.

@Beau Skunky What BG pone said. They really should have scrapped the actual finale and made this an animalympics style trilogy, the payoff being it would be like a Super Gala. So much missed awesomeness potential…Hope they at least consider doing flashbacks to cover things we missed during the games.

The frustration stems from the fact that Equestria Games were hyped for 2 seasons with 4 episodes: Just For Sidekicks, Games Ponies Play, Flight to the Finish, and Rainbow Falls. All of these episodes aren’t exactly considered stellar within the fanbase but everyone was hoping for a decent payoff with this episode.
 
In the end, we got one racing relay, an interrupted archery match, and focused on Spike long enough to miss enough events for Poniville to win 37 medals total. And it’s pretty bad when a big event like had less action than “Fall Weather Friends”.

Well, maybe it seemed better to me, because I didn’t see any previews, or knew anything about the episode prior. (Avoided spoilers, and didn’t have internet access for awhile.)

It wasn’t awful, except for that one part that was supposed to be cringeworthy and oh god did they succeed hard, it was just kind of meh. Just from the preview stuff I knew everything that was going to happen.
