Well, like I said it was a guess. Honestly, it’s not something I think I want to know. Personally, I feel the same as you. Unless it’s specifically a sequel, then each game stands on its own like the Legend of Zelda games.
 
On the other hand, Sonic fans got the reputation for being much worse than Transfans for a reason…

They get along reasonably well, and she’s free-spirited and world savvy versus Knuckles’ strong sense of duty and relative naivete. Isn’t that prime shipping fuel?
 
But that’d be the Rouge and Knuckles I remember from games or Sonic X. Not sure how she was in the Archie comics.

Huh, I always took Sonic’s plot in every game as a “slice of life” style with every game being its own thing and no over arching story mechanics connecting the games together. And if it’s canon they prefer, it’s still Sonic vs Robotnik/Eggman with friends both original to the comic and from the games. :P

If I had to guess, I’d assume it’s primarily from purists who argue only the games are canon.
 
For example, Knuckles being with that girl…Julie-Su? instead of Rouge the Bat. Despite Julie being around before Rouge’s debut.

Why would they hate it?
 
Personally it’s the Sonic story I’ve kinda wanted the games to emulate. But I don’t know if Sega/Nintendo pay much attention to the comics.

I personally stopped reading sometime after Enerjak lost his powers to Mammoth Mogul. I tried to get back into it some time later, but I found the stories had gotten a lot…what’s the right word…darker? Grittier? Like Eggman basically massacring the Echidnas and Charmy Bee’s family among others, Knuckles’ Brotherhood of Guardians being chucked into some portal never to be seen again and so on.
 
It felt like they’d lost the kinda fun, relatively consequence free escapades of the old days. I mean, I’m sure it makes sense from a story stand point, but I want to read comics that take me out of the troubles of the real world, not remind me of them.
 
I guess that’s why I enjoy the IDW MLP series so much.

Yeah, it’s nice Sonic, and his Freedom Fighter pals are still around after all these years. Even though the comic gets ALOT of hate on some online places (especially from Sonic fans on DeviantArt) I hear it’s one of Archie’s best selling comics, and is still quite popular after all these years.

Yeah, it’s hard to believe how old the comic is. It holds the record for longest lasting comic based on a video game, AND it’s even closing in on the “longest lasting licensed comic book series” record to. (Currently held by Conan the Barbarian.)

I’ll do that then. Being honest (Heh), it feels great to get back into this. It feels like something I would have gotten into as a kid. Though, I was 2 when this came out.

Well, it’s pretty easier to get into then it used to be. I missed a few years of the comic to before 2006, but it’s easy to get into, and the things you don’t understand you can always look up online.
 
They adapted Professor Pickle (Sonic Unleashed) into the comic recently. (He’s amusing.)

Part of my reluctance to join right away is that I’d feel left out of the loop. I’d like to perhaps get the older comics later, but I hope I can still hop right in where it is now….which I have no clue where it is >~>

BTW they have reprint collection books of the older Sonic comic issues if you ever wish to catch up on the series. (SOme of ’em pretty cheap to.) The earlier issues were a bit more campier/sillier then SatA.M., but they started get more serious around issue 21.
 
I kinda like how the earlier Robotnik in the earlier more comical issues kinda acted like a combination of the SatA.M. Robotnik, (sense he has his cruel streeks) and the AoStH Robotnik.

I finally decided to subscribe to the comics. I’ve been a secret fan of SATAM for the longest time and kind of lamented not bothering to catch up with these guys. I’d say I’m kind of a late fan as I saw all the episodes on youtube a few years back. Loved the environment and characters. And Bunnie Rabbot is cool! ^^.

I assume it was more likely a mistake, they tend to make production mistakes like that sometimes. Just look at this old Mario VHS tape. oddly using the wrong outfit for Koopa. (Which I think was one of the “Koopa Zombies” from the SMB3 episode “Recycled Koopa”)

Yeah, the marketing department apparently did it on purpose to sell more DVDs. And I didn’t know about the logo thing, so I’ll have to double check if they’ve got the proper one once I’ve got funds again.

I saw that misleading DVD cover at the store before, you have to be wary that the “Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog” is the comical/silly show, with the Milton Knight Robotnik, and the one just titled “Sonic the Hedgehog” is the “darker” SatA.M. one with the freedom Fighters, and really evil Robotnik in it. So you can tell which show it is by the logos.

Other than the issue wherein Sonic goes to the alternate world where Ivo’s a vet and good guy (and the Freedom Fighters are all jerks), my experience with the Archie Sonic comics is from the Ixis Naugus returns arc (where Sonic and Tails meet the guy who invented the Power Rings) to when Sonic returns from space.
 
So that span has the Antoine I’m familiar with. I do want to watch the related series, but I don’t have Netflix and when I found a DVD with the right Ivo on it, it was the wrong Sonic cartoon.

I was gonna say something about the Sonic tag having 1992 pics, but then one more was added. No Sonic 2 pun

Yeah, at times he was even kinda a jerk. Like when he had Sonic arrested at the end of “Mecha Madness.” (Which gave that issue a real downer ending almost ruining it for me…) Though, he did redeem himself a few issues later when he stood up for Sonic, and punched Geoffrey (a character who’s an even bigger jerk) who was getting ready to shoot Sonic with an arrow.
 
Antoine’s even been shown later on to of regretted his old jerk/cowardly ways, as well. So he’s grown up alot, and is quite cool regardless.
 
And yeah, shame they had to do a semi-reboot, (thanks to the legal fiasco with former writer Ken Penders who wanted his old characters back) but it’s not entirely a reboot, as some events/characters, and such remain the same apparently.

Yeah, though, SatA.M. was a bit more status quo then the comics, so not much would’ve changed if it did continue probably. (Shame the planned third season never came. Ben Hurst stated Knuckles was planned to appear in it.) Antoine’s probably the Sonic character who’s “grown up” the most. (But I like how writer Ian Flynn did bring some of his old comical aspects, while still keeping Antoine a good Freedom Fighter.)  
It was also kinda cute when Antoine married Bunnie. (He & Bunnie gradually became a canon pairing in the comic. In the SatA.M. universe however, they rarely ever interacted.)
 
And yeah, Blueblood might have his positive traits for all we know, but I doubt we’ll see him again aside from cameos. The whole point of his character seemed to be to give Rarity some confrontation, and such.
