I agree. An impression doesn’t mean shit when people don’t like the work because of it and actively avoid it.
Having an emotional reaction to a character isn’t inherently a good thing. Especially when it makes you dislike the work it belongs to.

I certainly get that, but that’s why you have to be so careful with a character’s first impression in a work. If you show the wrong side first, it’s hard to take back and show that the character’s not so bad.
But like you say, can’t please everyone. Just difference of opinion I guess.

Good, you feel emotion.
That means a character has effected you. This is good.
It just took a character I really like and turned him into an ass. Granted, a lot of nice people were jerks in high school, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it in a comic. It might have been better if this wasn’t his first impression, but what can you do.
It probably didn’t help that I was… less than impressed with his/her representation of Braeburn. A little too stereotypical for my taste.
What’s wrong with it though? It’s 1998 and they’re a bunch of high schoolers…
Yeah, I was pretty interested in this comic (particularly for that marching band Octavia), and then this update happened.
If ANY of her boyfriends said that line to me I would feminize them with my teeth.
