In my headcanon, Diamond Tiara’s special talent is the appearance of power. No matter what she says or what she does, ponies defer to her because she radiates a magical air of authority. Her ability to take credit for her acrobutler’s performance is an excellent example of this constant, innate magic at work.  
If earth ponies cannot comprehend unicorn magic, then surely the converse is also true. Consider Twilight trying to make sense of Pinkie Sense.

The unicorn clearly wants to do it though. The Earth pony depicted in this imaginal spot is clearly distressed and the entire earth pony race deserves some defense in racial matters such as this.
