@Vree
I want to go on record saying that theism is hardly something that is inherently opposed to or believed in spite of the laws of logic. In fact, classical apologetics rely quite heavily on the laws of knowledge and reason. For that reason, I’m convinced that many people entirely misunderstood what FPK was actually getting at, which was perhaps assisted by Twilight’s rather poorly-worded letter.
@Beau Skunky
It was such a young, innocent fandom then. [sniffle] We’re all grown up now, we can afford alcohol and guns for the really interesting unecessary drama.
@Beau Skunky
The lesson “some things can’t be explained by logic, you just have to accept them by belief” was very theistic. >_> Lauren said it may have been over-exaggerated, too.
But there really wasn’t “drama” in the sense you kids have these days, with the inb4s and the usVSus where the most innocent stuff gets tagged drama because some dumbass always has to scream FIRST! and jump down the neck of anyone holding an opinion. It’s not even the problem that people dcan’t respectfully disagree, it’s the infantiles who pop up screaming FIGHT! FIGHT! when people would just like to be on their way.
@d715
“Brony” has always sounded to me like an insecure fratboy trying to make excuses for liking a little girls’ show by frontin’ what a bro he is, like naaahhh, dudester, no homo, totes a bro, bro.
Screw that noise, man, if you can’t walk right on in the Pink Aisle and shop for magic horse toys like a self-respecting grownup, get a different fandom. Buck the haters, go like what you like and to hell with any fool who has a problem with that.
@ArrJaySketch
Indeed. As far as I’m concerned, people can call me a brony, a pony fan, or something even less flattering for all I care. I’m not worried about their associations at all, as long as those I actually know understand what I am and am not actually into.
@d715
Eh. I don’t think anyone outside a particular fandom actually cares, or bothers to differentiate. Someone hears you’re into Star Trek, and the first thing anyone asks is, “Oh, do you dress like Klingons at conventions?” They don’t care if you’re a Trekkie or Trekker. :)
Considering there’s no way to actually filter what fans go where or stop fans from calling themselves whatever they want, it’s only a matter of time before the “stigma” leaks over to the new name fans call themselves. I think it’s honestly better not to care what the “worst” fans are doing, and instead do one’s best to provide a best example of that fandom. Make it the fandom you want it to be, basically.
I say all of this because I’ve been involved in various fandoms for 18 years.
@d715
Eh, no matter what people call themselves, they all still like the same show, so “bronies,” “pegasisters,” and “MLP-fans” are all like the same thing to me.
No offense, but I think it’s kinda annoying when some MLP-fans, act like they’re “better then bronies,” just ‘cause they don’t call themselves “bronies.” (Like all those tumblr SJW people who act like that…) Seems a li’l self-righteous to me, no offense.
@d715
No offense, but aren’t you kinda a brony/fan to? (Assuming you like the show.) Not all bronies/MLP-fans are crazy, but some are. Same goes for every fandom really.
I also remember somebody trying to say Zecora was “racist,” or something… Oy…
@Beau Skunky
Oh yeah and “Over the Barrel” because another World with a different Culture isn’t playing out “native” and Western interactions the same way on Earth
Because you know ALL worlds have the same history as Real Life
and Buffalos aren’t just Natives ponies are form the same area.
And Bats because Fluttershy’s side wins out (Long term gain at the cost of short term? What’s that?)
@d715
There was also drama over the misunderstandings of the “moral” of “Feeling Pinkie-Keen” back in season 1. Some die-hard Atheists got angry thinking it was somehow promoting religious ideals, or putting down “skepticism,” which it wasn’t.
Season 1 with the CMC/Applebloom
Season 2 with Cadence, Canon Luna, a few minor ones like Mare do Well and people bitching about the episode’s moral not being 100% perfect
Season 3 with Princess Twilight, the shorter than normal season, Too Many Pinkies,
Then Equestria Girls, Sombra for a number of stupid reasons
@Beau Skunky
Not everyone. Generally, I find CMC episodes less interesting than the rest. I don’t have any particular reason to give right now, they just don’t do it for me.
