I went ahead and finished, hope you all like it ^^
Yeah, I just figured that one out :D this is almost done ^^
The way I prefer coloring things without altering the original is by using layers. Usually one or two, set to Multiply. Those more ambitious could add even more layers for shading and such.
The best effect can probably be achieved by using a paintbrush or airbrush in GIMP with the brush mode set to “Colour”. That way it will change the colour where you paint without altering the shading or texture.
Let’s see . . .
Pait.NET has an app for it, and I think GIMP does as well.
Can you give an example of such program? I’d like to try it
Thank you! :D
Yeah, I have to agree with Dreamsicle. A for effort, but it’s lacking a lot of the detail and softness that I was going for. Something I would try next time is to put it in a program that can make the drawing transparent, then paint the colors behind it, softening it where it needs less texture, and maybe adding highlights here and there to bring out detail like the hair in her mane and tail.
It’s all vectory, and lost its sketchy charm. D:
Ideally one should try to make it look like it was done in color pencil.

Yes of course :)
I hope you message me when you do. I’d love to see my work in color! :)
OK, i will try
Try not to lose the feel of the original art in the way. Many times ive seen traditional drawing colored digitally and the end result looked nowhere near as beautiful as the traditional one.
im coloring it :3
This guy drew a few nice ones
