My exact thoughts, too. The nice little cliff in the back was also present near the beginning. I was instantly reminded of that Pokemon battle with the random background trainer while only the vocal theme song played - particularly the part with Squirtle using Bubblebeam.  
On that note: until I have proof that the reason Bubble/Bubblebeam does damage is because they’re soap bubbles popping in your eyes, I refuse to acknowledge it as a real move.

Holy sh!t, yeah, now that you mention it, this does remind me of the early-ish Pokemon movies (primarily the coloration).

The “suggestive” tag is a content-rating tag that only ought to be used when the artist clearly intended the pic as such. There’s no indication of any such intent in the artist’s description, and plenty of viewers on both here and DA (including myself) see it in an innocent light. Just because there’s potential for subjective interpretations doesn’t mean the image should have a restrictive tag.

True,the range of sheer expressions a ponies face can do in the show goes far beyond any other animated series I know and they always make it look cute ,even if it’s a human.

Pretty but I much prefer FiM’s fluid style. Anime styles are often quite detailed, but afford that detail by cutting way back on frame rate, motion, and expression, and don’t bother to lip sync even to the original language.

I would imagine that actual “anime” FiM would look similar to this, which is pretty nice on that eyes.
