The disturbing thing is, Twilight’s probably been doing stuff like this with Spike since he was a baby, and it’s probably never occurred to him to tell her to stop, even if he doesn’t like it. He’s sort of become resigned to being Twilight’s play toy from time to time.

How she treats Spike has never been taken into consideration when other’s talk about her character progress. If Spike was a pony, Twilight would have never gotten her friendship crown.

I’m inclined to be lenient here, since a) I know people who react exactly this way myself, and b) all of Twilight’s friends are used for physical comedy by one another at some point.
 
The hug, well… true. Still time for that, though.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to sound like an “idiot Spike fan,” but this isn’t the first time she’s done this to him, and he clearly didn’t enjoy it either time. Believe me, if this were Twilight lifting him up in a great big hug and holding the child close as they spun around together sharing a moment of happiness then I’d be ecstatic about this scene. I’d be applauding it endlessly.
 
But, well, that’s not what this is, is it?
 
For all of the lessons she learned about friendship, Twilight still has this blind-spot for Spike. Despite doing things like this, she hasn’t hugged her little dragon all of this season, has she?

Hyperventilating, actually. Still, you have a point. Twilight might be one of those girls who can’t resist to grab her loved ones and dance around when she’s truly happy.
