Big MacIntosh can uproot houses and lift stoves with a single hoof, and the only one that can out-hoofwrestle him is PRINCESS CELESTIA HERSELF.
The train ponies can withstand a full-on collision with a rampaging buffalo and not even be stunned.
Ponyacci can juggle a thousand pound weight and a walrus - at the same time - and he bemoans that he’s getting old, to boot!
Granny Smith is a karate master, her mind is (when she stops the “old biddy” act) as sharp as a blade - and she’s a few centuries old, with an aunt that is EVEN OLDER.
Basically, the “one with nature” thing isn’t the big thing about earth ponies… the big thing is that they are unbelievably strong, hardy and resilient - not to mention quite creative, if need be: remember the pinkiecopter - or, in the latest episode, the makeshift raft (with a RUDDER, where most rafts have to make do with poles!)? (Flax Seed needed Rarity to help, sure, but Flax is higher than a kite 24/7…)
@Firefanatic
I think that’s probably a general pegasus thing. She did seem preternaturally good at breaking things, but that might be her special talent (the bubbles on her butt signifying the frail and ephemeral nature of all things), and I don’t know if they count for the purposes for this inquiry.
Okay, time to hit the canon again. Let’s send the wayback machine to “Boast Busters”, and recall a little discussion between Spike and Twilight Sparkle:
Spike - “Most unicorns know only one or two tricks related to their special talent. But your special talent IS magic!”
Included in Twilight’s repertoire of magic tricks was a Growth spell. Okay, it grew mustaches instead of trees, but the principle’s the same. Twilight can probably duplicate some Earth pony magic simply because as unicorns go, she’s seriously OP. That’s why Celestia took her on as her protege.
Sunset Shimmer was similarly OP, so it stands to reason that she could do a growth spell that mimicked Earth pony magic. Nothing surprising here.

Derpy seems to have the gift of being shocked by several thousand volts of lightning, and coming out of it with only singed hair. Does that count?
Pinkie Pie teleports.
Fluttershy stares.
Just off the top of my head. Then again, these are Elements of Harmony.
Any other earth ponies or pegasi displaying powers outside of growing plants and flying?
I’m merely pointing out the problem with having magic which is supposedly specialized compared to other magic when such distinctions aren’t held too :p
Tell that to Background Pony #65A3, who apparently thinks that new characters should never be introduced unless they were mentioned in at least 10 episodes beforehand or that a character’s abilities should remain static and never grow.
Yes because Twilight Sparkle was the only unicorn in existence and Sunset Shimmer was the second unicorn we saw so it’s okay to speak as if their unique powers are same for every unicorn.
Just like how all earth ponies can break the laws of physics, walk on air, have unlimited invisible inventory, alter the way they look and Celestia knows what else. Just like all pegasi can communicate with animals, do sonic rainbooms, have the stare etc.
Here. Have a unicorn showing her amazing unicorn powers:
And yes, I know I’m feeding the troll but what the hell.
Keep in mind that Sunset Shimmer is supposed to be around the same level as Twilight Sparkle in terms of magical ability. Ordinary unicorns apparently have trouble with this sort of thing, as evidenced by “Juniper Berry’s attempt” (seen here).
I honestly fail to see how this is “Overgrowth”. Her intent was to impress the judges. If she was trying to make a Fruit tree, she would not doubt have had it popping out apples like what AJ had in BATS.
I think she’d make a fine farmer, were it not for the insanity, evilness and pride.
That was second season. Now they can slap wings on unicorns, make them grow food, and do whatever else comes to their minds at the moment. Consistency in this show died about when suddenly a third alicorn and long lost brother showed up with no explanation whatsoever.
