Honestly though, while opinions are certainly allowed, why go further than that broadcast hate for a character, even for an OC? Legitimate critique it is, yes, but this fandom’s negativity (she’s far from the worst OC you’ve ever seen, I guarantee you, and she’s far from the BEST I’ve seen) everywhere I turn is a bit discouraging.
 
I will say, I find it harder to respect those who are too concerned about backlash to put a name to their words. Nothing wrong with anonymity, I’ve done it myself, but it seems like a bit of a cop-out. To each their own though.
 
I’m just rambling really. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, but I think we’re taking colorful talking ponies a little too srsly here. Backy ain’t best pone, but there’s no reason to go art critic snob on a freakin’ ask blog pone. Let ‘em have their fun and critique and move on.
 
Honestly though this isn’t a big deal and I don’t really have any reason to weigh in on the issue, and your opinion’s probably better thought out than mine. Just felt like voicing my dislike of the same sort of negativity that’s made me leave certain circles of the fandom.

So… you wouldn’t accept my opinion even if I were to put my name on it, just because I haven’t had time to spend being as prolific as slavedemorto, and if I do have legitimate critique, that makes me a “whiny talentless asshole”.
 
You’re the reason why I’m not posting with my name shown: unless some big name comes along to give their two cents, you’re unwilling to consider others’ opinions, and even then, I presume, just to suck up. You’ll tell legitimate critics to go away because in your mind, apparently only big producers can tell quality. I could put a name with this post, but it wouldn’t matter: if you can’t respect nobody, you won’t respect anybody.

I like Backy, not as the best OC ever but a pleasant form of entertainment. And I can’t think of any legitimate reason to bitch about her unless someone is either a talentless whiny asshole or has put more time and effort into drawing for an ask blog than Slavedemorto has. I have zero respect for anons or their opinions; they who are too cowardly to actually put a name behind their assertations deserve to have their ‘arguments’ laughed at and shoved aside with not even the slightest consideration.

I agree that maybe her mane/tail could stand to be a bit darker, but the eye color provides some nice contrast.

Some of them are. Backy’s design is dull, though; the similarities between the nearly neutral coat and mane/tail colors are minimal, the eyes unrelated in hue, CM nebulous, and its colors totally unrelated. It’s not well articulated at all, and her personality and character are not enough to salvage her.

Which is why I’m posting this anonymously: I hate Backy, but everyone else seems to love her.
