And this makes it okay to completely ignore it how? I mean if the writers are only going to address Twilight’s princesshood when it’s the focus of an episode and completely ignore it the rest of the time then said princess kinda becomes a waste of potential and a regression of her character growth. This was always going to be a problem that the writers would have to work with, making sure that while twilight does not become the shows main centerpiece she also does not have her status disregarded because you cannot ignore this. We have seen how characters react to alicorns, and so far the shows writers have have failed to do this instead treating her ascension like an expendable plot point when it isn’t.
In fact allot of the episodes, including this one feel like they were written more for twilight as a unicorn rather than an alicorn.
I get that it many feel this should not be a big deal but the thing is the show itself made this a big deal both in the season three finale and season four start yet nothing has been done with it since then.
Her status hasn’t been addressed since the premier, but she hasn’t been the primary focus of an episode since the then either.
You’re misunderstanding the whole point. My argument is - being an Alicorn is an aesthetic change, but being a Princess should have been a life-changing one. I’m not saying Twilight should abandon her friends - far from it. What I would like to impress though, is that, being a Princess should have been a huge deal that should have shaken the status quo - meaning while Twilight does hang out with her friends, we’d see a huge change in her lifestyle. That’s the whole point of a “character upgrade”.
Like Faiza being made the new Captain Britain - she still has her old job, but being Captain Britain came with new, heavy responsibilities. Barring the season opener, I haven’t seen anything that Twilight couldn’t be doing without the ascension. Cleaning a castle; getting rid of a few pests; supporting a friend in need and going in an adventure in a comic book - where’s the shake-up there? I actually thought we were going to go through some significant changes with Twilight being a Princess, but most of the adventures have stayed within the comfort zone.
I actually thought we were going to be seeing more into the Princess aspect of Twilight and the burden of responsibility, balancing her new title with her friendship, etcetera, but we haven’t. Maybe I am looking into it too much because most episodes, barring the opener, haven’t given a real chance for the focus to occur.
Time will tell, of course, but I actually thought being royalty meant new, interesting barriers - even a comedy “Princess Ettiquette” episode. We haven’t seen anything that made Twilight being a Princess significant - which has so far made it more a visual upgrade than a character one.
Twilight gets alicorned. People complain because they think she’s going to forget her friends. Meghan says she won’t - they call her a liar.
Twilight doesn’t change, and now people are complaining because she didn’t.
Why don’t you knobs just relax and enjoy the damn show?
Yeah. I never minded Alisparkle myself, but it seems thus far that it wasn’t important at all after the first two episodes. Which actually is a big thing for me, because I thought it’d actually show the “badass Princess” lifestyle instead of the Slice of Life pieces we had thus far been getting.
It actually seems like such a waste for the Season 3 Finale - other than getting WINGS and the suffix PRINCESS, we’ve actually not seen Twilight do any of the things that we’d associate with Luna or Celestia. She’s just gone back to her own lifestyle.
It just seems like a huge waste despite being presented like a world-changing event the season 3 finale made it out to be.
@Background Pony #6984 Apparently, Twilight’s going to do more princessy stuff later in the season.
I’d honestly be surprised if it ever shows up again.
Pleasantly surprised, mind you.
Animation oversight, or is that plotline going to be abandoned until later.
Just like Twilight’s princess status.
