That’s actually a good point I don’t care if people hate MLP. Unless if haters try to attack/harass bronies/fans online for what they like, and such that’s when it gets bad. (There are actual “hate groups” online dedicated to trying to drive bronies off the internet, and such.) Same goes for those attacking Sonic fans.
Please understand that some of your reasons for hating Sonic can be another reason why people hate MLP. It’s because it’s associated with people that they don’t like. You guys are always complaining how whenever some user finds a pony they get butthurt. Well, you guys are actually doing the same thing, getting butthurt over a cartoon character.
I’m just saying that if you’re willing to hate on a cartoon character, then you have to let the haters hate on MLP. Even the reasons, like how it’s related to a fandom that’s weird, can be used by the haters themselves. Just letting you know.
Suit yourself.
You were the one ask why I despise sonic; I delivered and I’m not inclined on playing another sonic product.
Well, just ‘cause you made some mistakes, doesn’t mean you have to blame it on a fictional game character. You can still enjoy the old Sonic games, and stuff, even if you don’t like the new ones. Kinda odd to hold “shame” over something so minor honestly.
It’d be like hating ponies, just ‘cause you did something you regret in the pony fandom years ago.
Plus honestly, no offense, but it’s getting to “trendy” to hate Sonic online. You can dislike Sonic, but some people seem to hate him a li’l “to much”… But if you wish to dislike Sonic go ahead. I still enjoy his series regardless of the ups, and downs. I’m more of a “casual” Sonic fan overall.
It’s not about what the fandom makes, it was my involvement I look back on in shame.
Um, bronies do/make that stuff to, I’m sorry to say.
I think the Sonic games are getting better though personally. “Lost World” was a nice throwback to a more “basic/simple” Sonic game.
I am ashamed because I used to be one of the crazy sonic fan types. I once was in to the fandom’s OCs and participated in their abominable RP forums. That fandom brought out the worst of me and it took me years after Sonic 06 to see what I have become. The bad games only made the humiliation worse as I longed for the good old days when things were simple. Now I despise sonic with every fiber of my being and every dead end argument I had involving his franchise.
Why is that? I still like Sonic even though some of his fans are nuts/annoying, (same could be said for some MLP-fans) and that some of his games are hit-or-miss.
I don’t know I have no reason to hate him, and honestly feels way to “trendy” to hate Sonic to me. I don’t know why some can’t have a more “middle/neutral” opinion on Sonic. People either love him to much, or hate him with a passion.
Well, now you know the reasons why people don’t like to see ponies posted on their sites? They don’t need a reason to dislike something, they just don’t want to change their minds.
Precisely.
So in other words, “How is it possible that people who like some of the same things as me don’t like ALL of the same things as me??”
Let me help clear things up for you then. Your previous post implied that I’m saying that “How is it even possible for them to have similar interests as me, yet not completely share all of them,” which was incorrect on your part. What I’m getting at is how logical it seems that males, grown and younger, can simply devote so much of their fascination into a television show, originally designed for females mind you, about colourful, magical talking horses. Yet at the site of an anthropomorphic hedgehog, who’s ideal design can cater towards both genders, they reel back in disgust, simply because it’s Sonic. I could care less if you don’t like him and I do, but the evidence that stands that the majority of a fandom devoted to MY LITTLE PONY hates a character who fits into the same category as your idols is baffling.
Get off of you high horse you elitist scrub.
So what does “It makes no sense, really, how they can idolize cartoon horses, yet despise a cartoon hedgehog.” mean to you?
I didn’t have to read very hard at all. You said it right there, “It makes no sense that everyone likes this one thing but doesn’t like this other.”
If that’s now what you meant to say, you needed to give that sentence a couple more editing passes before posting.
I’ve never implied that. Don’t read too hard into my post.
In this case, I am pretty much indifferent to Sonic and being crossed over with MLP, my only issue with Sonic fan art is not the concept but the execution. Less shipping, more action; more focus on common traits and activity, less sucking at each other’s faces; less about sonic headlining, more about the two series actually complimenting each other.
Oh my gosh! How is it possible that people who like some of the same things as me don’t like ALL of the same things as me??
Then why the fuck are you on a Sonic image?
I feel the same way. Some games may not be my favorite, but they’re still good.
It’s also weird though, how it can work the other way: some people hate games for being “the same”, a prime example being Call of Duty. Every year they come out with a new one, and everyone hates it because there’s “nothing new”. While I myself play mostly for the Zombies mode, I still go and enjoy playing the multiplayer and campaigns, which I myself have always found intriguing and distinctly different each time.
*Sighs* You mean to tell me there is nothing in this world that you hate for reasons that are simply beyond your understanding?
Yes I have played Sonic. Several of them. And I didn’t like them. I’ve watched a few episodes of several of the shows, and aside from Underground, I didn’t like them. (I’ve also played DmC, and it was… meh, but that’s neither here nor there.) I don’t know what to tell you; I simply found myself strongly disliking them.
No person needs a reason to dislike something, nor do they need to validate why to someone else. You obviously like the series. That’s fine. I don’t like the series. That’s fine.
Now you’re going to ask what game. And what show. And for how long did I play. And what episode did I watch. And what did I eat for breakfast that morning. And if I answered all those questions, you would keep going and going until I either gave up and walked away. Sooooooooo… I’m walking away right now.
I hate Sonic.
Yeah, I’ve seen “worse” changes to games out there then say a character’s eye color.
I mean, I don’t like some of the changes they did to “Donkey Kong Country Returns,” (like being unable to roll into multiple enemies, and the jumping, and such movements feeling stiffer, and not as smooth as the old SNES games) but it’s still not a bad game.
Heh. That’s pretty sad actually. Even if sonic played that big of a role in their childhood, the game is bound to change and evolve. Generations even threw a bone out to hardcore 2d sonic fans, and they still only consider the game to be “alright” or “decent.”
I’m with you as well on the nostalgia thing. It’s more sensible to dislike something because of it’s own flaws, rather than because it isn’t like it’s previous installment.
I agree with that. My only exception to “nostalgia and bad gaming quality” is the Crash Bandicoot series. I loved the originals and how they played. The music was great, the characters were diverse. In my opinion, it all went downhill after “Crash of the Titans” came out. I didn’t like the redesigns, and they removed quite a lot of his original skillset. I didn’t like the whole “mojo” money thing either. While that may seem like those “nostalgic” Sonic pllayers, I’d like to point out that the changes to Sonic were not as severe: they added skills instead of removing them (heck, they even re-added the Spin Dash in Lost World), the redesigns were minor (eye color, minor height change, added shoe soles), and the music quality stayed about the same.
Don’t need a reason to dislike something? Yes, there is need to be a reason. It’s like the DmC Reboot, everybody hate the game just before playing it. Then I was like “WTF you hate something without having the experience of playing it?”. Two months later, I am seeing the people saying the the game was very cool and good, the only complain was the new Dante. Even the voice actors said that the game sucks and days later they said the game is very good. Is just a example.
Do you have played a Sonic game in you life? Just asking.
