“I told him it was a bad idea, I knew it was a bad idea, why in the world did I even agree to this,” Sharp whined while sitting in the dragon cage that was a bit too small. He tugged on the bars in a useless attempt to somehow break them, but it just caused him to swing the cage.
“Well it wasnt that bad an idea,” Snort chimed in from his cell. He was locked in a cell along the wall, I mean, who would have predicted it was diamond dogs doing the dragon-napping, they arent the brightest bunch.
“And who could have predicted that now were gonna be stuck slaving away for them for the rest of our lives,” Sharp sarcastically remarked.
“Exactly!” Snort agreed.
“I think I liked you better when you were jaded.” Sharp said under his breath.
“Whatd you say?” Snort asked, not catching the comment.
“I said this is all Spikes fault, hes the one who wanted to solve this mystery,” Sharp ranted, “Well mystery solved.”
“Hey, its not all Spikes fault, how did you miss those big diamond dogs getting the jump on you guys?” Snort defended Spike.
“How did you miss Magma getting knocked out and me struggling to get your attention as the diamond dog was handling me?” Sharp sneered back.
“We were distracted by the dragons in chains,” Snort defended.
“Hey Magma, howd you get taken out so easy anyway, mister big strong dragon?” Sharp asked across the cavern into the other cell.
“Oh I dont know, because I was hit across the head with a club!” Magma yelled annoyed. From in the cell the grunts of Magma along with the rattling of chains echoed from the shadow, as if he were struggling to get out.
“Are you trying to escape Magma?” Sharp continued to chastise, “Why? Just to get another club to the head? Just be like me and Snort and give up already.
“Shut up!” Magma yelled, “If I get out, Im leaving you behind!”
“Pfft, whateverSnort why are you waving?” Sharp asked monotone-ly.
“Its Spike and some red dragon, theyre sneaking around over there!” Snort said in an exclaimed whisper.
“What!?!” Sharp looked over and saw Spike and a red dragon waving. He was dumbfounded as the two made their way to them carefully as not to be seen.
“Hey guys,” Spike greeted the group, “Good to see your all alright, keep quiet and well get you out of there. Mangle keep watch, make sure we dont get jumped.
“You got it!” Mangle affirmed as he ducked behind a stone wall while keeping watch.
“Huh” Sharp was at a loss for words, “how did you? who is-? what? Sharp was completely flabbergasted as to how Spike was somehow subverting his expectations and saving him, again.
“Hes Mangle, one of the dragons kidnapped by the diamond dogs,” Spike pointed to Mangle who gave a small wave at his intro, “These metal containers are enchanted with some kind of magic that makes them super strong, but my fire gets rid of it and makes it super weak. The plan is to get you guys out of here, cause a distraction, get his friends out of here, and with numbers we fight our way out, and let the dragon council know whats going on to put a stop to this.
“But, but,” Sharp tried to somehow come up with a reason that the plan wouldnt work but couldnt and resigned, “alright anything is better than being stuck in a birdcage.”
Spike began to blow his flame on the bars of the cage. As the green runes faded, the bars started to crack and from the weight of Sharp sitting cause the bottom to fall out from the cage, and he landed with a grunt.
“Alright Snort, youre up,” Spike said as he made his way to Snorts cell.
