All right, I concede that I had completely forgotten that. And yeah, that wasn’t cool, no matter what Trixie did or had done.
You’re the one who brought up the flashbacks in Magic Duel, and you clearly don’t even remember them. Trixie had a new wagon, or managed to salvage her old one somehow, and it was shown that her detractors painted insulting graffiti all over it. That is vandalism.
Furthermore I’m calling strawman argument on that, as you ignored most of what I said to instead attack a misrepresentation of one point.
Apparently you didn’t watch the episode. The Ursa Minor is the one that smashed her cart to pieces. There was no “vandalism”.
Oh, and by the way, the vandalism of Trixie’s trailer was most definitely not her fault. Hurling abuse at an actor because you didn’t realize they were acting at first is not justified.
Hi, sorry, but you’re dead wrong about Trixie trying to save face. If Trixie was motivated purely by salvaging her reputation, the thing to do would have been to run away and not look back.
There was nothing stopping her, and the problem would have taken care of itself. As far as Trixie was aware, there was nobody in town who could stop that thing. All witnesses to her failure would have been eaten. Instead, she proceeded to further provoke the creature she knew she couldn’t beat.
…And looking further I see there are, at least in Rainbow’s.
If by “immediately”, you mean “stand around wondering what’s going on, idling while Trixie admits she can’t do anything, then look embarrassed and have to get nudged into action by Spike”, then you’re correct.
You won’t BELIEVE some of the “It wasn’t Trixie’s fault!” arguments I’ve seen. I saw one person claim without any irony whatsoever that the mane six were somehow responsible for Trixie’s cart getting destroyed by the Ursa Minor.
And let’s not forget that this guy is forgetting that once she knew about the Ursa Minor, Twilight IMMEDIATELY sprang into action. She was only fretting about looking like a show-off BEFORE that point.
And Trixie wasn’t actually trying to defend Snips and Snails; she was just trying to save face by actually attempting to vanquish the monster.
And really, if you ask me, everything that Trixie claims happened to her after “Boast Busters” when she reappears in “Magic Duel” was nopony’s fault but her own.
Even though we’ve watched the same sequence of images and sounds, I don’t think we’ve watched the same episode.
And Twilight spent most of the time not wanting to step in because she was worried her friends would hate her for showing off, even though lives were in danger. She basically put her reputation above Trixie’s, Snips’ and Snails’ lives. From Trixie’s view, it must’ve looked as though Twilight was deliberately holding back and waiting until both her wagon and her reputation were ruined before she stepped in and showed off her own skills, thus driving the knife even deeper.
I love the show, but that episode had some terrible writing to justify driving home a forced moral. To this day, when I watch it all I can see is a haughty showpony getting her life ruined by a bunch of farmers who regard her sheer existence as some kind of unforgivable personal insult.
