Awww I missed him… :( (Anyone got a Youtube video of it from this year?)  
But yeah, that balloon actually first appeared during his 20th anniversary year, and I heard it was scheduled to be reused for a few years afterwords. It’s kinda nice to see Sonic back in popular culture. (Regardless of the debates over the quality of his games/comics.)  
He’s getting a new TV show next year to, which I look forward to.
 
Also, Sonic was the first video game character to have a balloon in a parade, I recall back in the ’90s. (Though, it nocked over a lamppost.)

Surprised they had Pac Man in one of the parades this year. (They had Sonic a year or 2 ago.)

We could petition Hasbro to replace Mr. Potato Head with a Pony. But which one? The most logical choices would be, in order of least logical to most logical,
 
#3 Derpy, as an apology to the fans. (They might want to do an apology but this is unlikely)  
#2 Rainbow Dash because she would be 20% cooler than any other idea, and a super popular character.  
#1 Princess Twilight, because she is the current major pony “breadwinner.”

And that was the year that Pinkie found out she was allergic to kumquats.
