I think you’re making a completely wrong assumption there, ie. that ships should be based on what’s implied in bg scenes (isn’t that kind of a weak reason to do it anyway?), but the deciding factor in these pop ships (Discopie, Fluttermac etc.) is personality compatibility.
To be fair, all ships are based in assumptions…
…So it’s strange to me that Fluttermac is always labeled as “nonsense” or “impossible”, when in reality many other ships have the same bases, yet they don’t receive as much criticism
If one doesn’t like it, it’s ok, but it doesn’t make sense to try to find an argument against it that you could apply in any other ship as well.
TECHNICALLY untrue, since Vinyl did DJ for Shining and Cadance’s reception. So assuming Octavia wasn’t on vacation somewhere other than Canterlot at the time, they have been in the same CITY if not the same scene.
