Same can be said about what to want the Wii U, just replace “extras” with a games, some find Nintendo systems better for they find games mostly more enjoyable that on their systems, I find the games on Nintendo, some are just as fun to play for a short time as they are to play for a long run.  
It just depends on what the person want/like.

Most of the bonus content I’ve had experience with getting or missing never became dlc. Or if they were, they were more expensive then dropping the 5 dollars to preorder.

When it’s bonus content that just become available later own down the line for everyone then why make it bonus content for preorder in the first place?

Why would anyone pre-order a game if not for the bonus content? There is no short supply, or if there is, one that won’t last very long before they re-stock the store. I’m unaware of any game that’s ever tried to pull apples “we didn’t stock enough iphones so we could drive up demand and fake having a short supply” strategy, and actually managed to pull it off to any inkling of success.

There are a number of reasio, it’s all how you look at it and what you like  
One thing for me that kind of has the same lines to it is on other systems most times it’s why pre-order anything other then really wanting the game I guess and not for the bonuses, most times it’s just DLC that will come out later on anyway, but if it is on a Nintendo system you get something physical is there is a bonus.  
That may just be with pre-ordering game but like with game systems it’s all on how each person looks at it.

People buy it for exclusives such as Monolith Soft’s X, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, Zelda and more to come.
 
Actually, people buy consoles for any exclusive they have to offer.
 
If there were only 3rd party games in the industry, then consoles won’t have a purpose as everyone would be a Glorious PC gamer.

I don’t get the appeal of a wii u. Their handheld games and such sure, they’re really good at it and practically have a monopoly on the market. But I don’t see why why unless you cared about zelda, mario, or smash brothers series, you would buy it over the competitors.

Why is it that people want Nintendo to fail so badly, granted the Wii U had a rocky start, but it’s getting more stable, but seriously, if it wasn’t for them in 1983, there’d be no VideoGames to plays at all, or at the very least, not in the same way as today….
